Bandai Model Kit World Cup 2010 Hong Kong finals

Lovely ladies, lovely trophies and lovely entries! I just re-blogged Gundam Guy's post of the Bandai Model Kit World Cup finals 2010 at Hong Kong. As always, BMKWC Hong Kong finals is a fitting ending to any Gundam / Gunpla enthusiast.

A lot of deserving entries, a lot of great winners eventually! FYI guys, this year the masked Bakuc is back! I mean the face, person behind the mask is judging again this year! Anyways, Gratz to our winners at ZeroGunz and our Indonesian friends for bagging the main trophy!

Bandai Model Kit World Cup 2010 World Champion!

new photos by Seizchu

Woot!!! I have featured this beautiful build in my blog earlier... I present to you the Children of Paradise by FENDOZA! Fernando Vincensius aka Fendoza of Indonesia is the new BMKWC 2010 World Champion! A lot of deserving kits in the event but this masterpiece nailed the coffin! Great win for Indonesia!

I told you guys... I do not expect surprises in the finals at Hong Kong. Much like BMKWC Malaysia, it is a roll dice in between the top 3 picks and my top 3 picks are almost spot on! This is great news to our friends from Netmorks, and like any other World Championship win... I expect better and greater builds from our Indonesian friends next year. Gratz to all the winners!

BAKUC finals 2008 Flashback!

My previous post of Gundam Expo 2010 HK that I got from GG made me itchy to post this 2 year old photos of my experience at the same event back in 2008. It is really fun and nostalgic to see these old photos as I never posted them here in my blog before. I only started blogging last year ( November 2009 ) thus these are new old photos in my blog.

Obviously Bandai Model Kit World Cup ( BMKWC ) was called Bandai Action Kit Universal Cup ( BAKUC ) back in 2008. Much to my surprise back then, BAKUC was not the main event... It is the final event though, but it is only part of their annual Gundam Expo.

Now let us see a few of my old photos of the Gundam Expo 2008...

Bandai Model Kit World Cup 2010 Thailand

Just as I thought we are just waiting for the World Championships at Hong Kong this December... nuNunu suddenly shared at ZeroGunz some photos he took at Bandai Model Kit World Cup 2010 Thailand! There are no results yet but goodluck to all the participants.

There are a couple of sick PGs with scratch built armors by nuNUnu and other awesome entries. There are also some interesting dioramas and highly modified kits. One of my fav is the Zaku Deepstriker in the photo above.

BMKWC 2010 Singapore winners!

Results of the BMKWC Singapore is also out! I saw this earlier at ZeroGunz posted but Kenny Lim aka Toymaker. Their group entry the " Trinity " won in the Group Category as expected :). BMKWC Singapore featured so many good entries this year.

Honestly, I think everyone are winners based on the sheer quality of all the entries alone. Great stuffs! I have here the top 3 winners of the Open PRO category and like BMKWC Malaysia, I think Singapore does not have an expert category this year. Anyways, here are the winners...

BMKWC 2010 Indonesia winners

Results of the winners of the BMKWC 2010 Indonesia is out! posted by balliga at ZeroGunz. We were treated with some of the really good looking dioramas by our friends from Indonesia this year. I must say they produced some of the best dios for the international compe.

I really like the top 3 winners because of their dios / bases. The painting and the compositions are nice and straight forward. The winners of the other categories are really deserving too! Now here are the top 3 winners in the Open PRO category...

Bandai Model Kit World Cup 2010 Taiwan winners

Photos from Chris of Taiwan

We have here the results / winners of the recently concluded Bandai Model Kit World Cup Taiwan! I saw the thread posted at ZeroGunz and it was posted by zoidx_chung. The Kshatriya is the champ of the  PRO category ( no expert cat again ) and this kit will compete in the World Championships at HongKong.

I really dig the 1st runner up ( 2nd place ) entry which is a Panda Acguy! I love it, really really creative work and I love the red eyes in particular. The red eyes made it look fierce some how. Their are other top notch work and the Junior cat entries are extremely good!

Bandai Model Kit World Cup 2010 Indonesia

 photos by gundam_murah of Netmorks

I saw this thread at Netmorks, our good friends from Indonesia is having their Bandai Model Kit World Cup 2010. Can't really tell which entry are in what category. Though I see a lot of good looking dioramas and entries in the photos.

My fav entry so far is the Sinanju killing the Unicorn Gundam, the melting metal effects on the cockpit of the Unicorn looks really nice and convincing. Another fav is the Zaku beside the waterfalls, always wanted to do something like that with an old Zaku kit.

BMKWC Expert category was cancelled...

BMKWC Singapore is rolling until December 13, BMKWC Philippines and BMKWC Malaysia has champions already. BMKWC Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong and the other countries should be rolling soon. This is pretty exciting and roughly around December 25 the World Championships 2010 will commence again.

I just learned from a good online friend that the rules was a bit altered in their country. My reliable source ( hehehe ) told me that the Expert category was cancelled in this year's ( 2010 ) BMKWC. Thus all expert modelers could join and compete in the PRO category and have a chance to compete in the finals at Hong Kong!

Bandai Model Kit World Cup 2010 Singapore

Bandai Model Kit World Cup Singapore is up and running! Much like Kenny told me in Facebook, he and couple of fellow modelers are entering in the Group Build category. I saw and stole a couple of photos from Kenny Lim aka Toymaker.

As expected much like in Malaysia, there are lots of great entries this year,  Monster PG kits and monster dioramas! I did not steal more photos from Kenny though, so I highly recommend you bolt to his blog for more photos of the other entries and Kenny's Group Build entry.

" The Gilgamesh Project " wallpaper - DC23

click thumbnail to enlarge

Just a quick wallpaper in the office again... I just added real photos of real snowy mountains as background and voila! instant crappy wallpaper. Actually the plan is to make it look like those old winter war black & white photographs.

I intentionally pushed the contrast to sheer ugliness, added a huge close up photo on the left side, added some real mountains and treated the whole thing with some grains. I intentionally chose the font for the title that I think resembles the look of old 40's stuff... the layout is old school too.

Feel free to copy my crappiest wallpaper yet! hihihi... Thanks for dropping by! Til' next post! :)

my TOP10 - BMKWC 2010 Philippine entries

I thought of creating this new type of post after reading a really nice thread at our MAC forums on " What is your TOP10 favourite Gundam / MS? ". This is basically my TOP10 picks amongst all of the entries at the recently concluded BMKWC Philippines 2010.

As I've said before I like all of the entries at the event and that their is simply just not enough placings or prizes to go along. I could easily have a TOP30 or even a TOP50 in this year's entries as all are topnotch works.

I chose my TOP10 in the most biased way I could do and these are just friends that is why I am featuring them here... JOKE! I based my selection on the level of effort put into the build, skill level to accomplish such great builds and the creativity in putting up such a masterpiece.

Now here is my TOP10 in NO chronological order whatsoever...

" The Gilgamesh Project " - DC23

The concept behind the Gilgamesh project is simple... " The Gilgamesh Project " is a secret mecha project in the remote regions of Northern Siberia. A small Zeon faction created this monster out of old Zeonic technologies. The mecha has been wrecking havoc on Federation forces for 5 years now, however the enemies has this mech as unclassified. No one has lived to tell the tale of the attacks of this monster, The Gilgamesh is often referred to as the " White Shark " or the " White Sunset ".

The diorama is made of of different plastic scraps from M&M canisters to small 1 inch PVC pipes. The figures used are basically out of scale coz they are 1/72 military figs. Obviously the main kit is the MG Sazabi and parts from 1/144 GNX and MG Qubeley was used to enhance the overall look.

I painted this with Tamiya acrylics and weathered it with Mungyo dry pastels, Tamiya enamels, Citadel paints and Tamiya weathering master. The diorama was painted with Bosny ( industrial grade ) spray cans and was weathered in the same manner as the mech. It took me roughly 3 months to finish this build.

Now I present to you my latest diorama... the Gilgamesh project...

BMKWC 2010 Philippines Placers! Congratulations to all!

Now let's roll the red carpet! I present to you some photos of the placers in this year's Bandai Model Kit World Cup Philippines. I am really sorry though coz I cannot name all the winners and the categories, I know most of you guys specially those who are active in the forums but unfortunately I do not know all of you. I would entertain any private message sent to me at Facebook or our MAC forums so that I can include your names in this post.

Anyways this is my best effort so far to enumerate all of the winners! Congratulations to all!

Bandai Model Kit World Cup 2010 Philippines - DAY TWO

First of all, I would like to congratulate all of the participants in this year's Bandai Model Kit World Cup Philippine Finals! I am very very happy for all the Filipino Gunpla modelers this year! As I've said in my previous posts, The Filipino Gunpla modelers are heading in the right direction, everybody is improving vastly every year. Great job everyone!

I am looking forward to next year's Bandai World Cup Philippines already. If this year was any indication of the number of quality entries... I definitely have my expectations very high for everyone for next year. 90+ bad ass entries! Just simply not enough prizes to go around but everyone is a winner. Congratulations to all who joined!

I actually just got home from the event and I would like to show you some snapshots taken today ( day two ) by my wife ( sorry for some lousy pics, hihi ). Btw, I will have a third post later of all the placers in this event but for the meantime here are some pics...

BMKWC 2010 Philippines day two coming up later!

I slept early yesterday after day one of the event... too tired coz I brought my wife and kids. The kids had fun, they saw looooooot's of Gundams. Afterall my youngest, the little boy calls me " Daddy Gundam " and he was overly excited after seeing the 9 foot tall Exia in front of the venue. I won't be bringing my kids ( much to their dismay ) today ( day two ) coz it's going to be really busy later. Awarding ceremony later at roughly around 4 pm!

Anyways, I will be taking more photos of the entries today. My camera batteries ran out an hour before MatX arrived so I was not able to take photos of a handful of entries including his entry. I am btw in the Expert category and there are only 4 participants including Nathaniel Barrera, the best Filipino modeler around IMO.

Kinda excited to compete with " the guy " but the Expert category is simply just a courtesy category for the old winners ( Thanks to Bankee and Bandai ). I am a ton more excited to share with you and upload photos of my " the Gilgamesh project " tomorrow morning than for the results of a category with 4 participants. hihihi

Highlight of the event goes to all the PRO and Junior Pro category participants. We will know later today who will represent the Philippines to the World Championships at HongKong! I am overly excited for all those guys as most of my friends and MAC forumers are contestants. Afterall, Eduardo Quirong is last year's Junior Pro World Champion back in BAKUC HongKong 2009.

There are a handful of kits that I saw yesterday that I really like! I do not know the modelers though, thus I am saving my biases later after the results. Goodluck to all the participants later! But I am rooting for the MAC forumers a little more in this event! See yah later! :D

Needless to say... most MAC and GMAC likers at Facebook are MAC forumers. Goodluck guys! hihi :D

Bandai Model Kit World Cup 2010 Philippines - DAY ONE

I just finished uploading these gazillion photos! Dang there are I think 90+ entries back at Bandai Model Kit World Cup Philippines today! 40 + entries joined the New Challenger Category, 20+ entries who joined the Professional Category, 10+ entries in the Junior Category, a handful of entries ( maybe around 3 - 4 ) in the group category and 4 entries in the Expert category! Not really sure with the numbers but those are rough estimates.

The quality of the entries vastly improved in comparison to last year! I mean it has constantly been improving since the first time I joined which was Bakuc 2008... but I really like all of the kits I saw today. All sorts of creative mechas from all the participants.

I am really excited for the results of the Pro and Junior Category and even the New challenger category. Most of them our good friends from Facebook and our MAC forums! I have my bets though they are bias bets... so to keep it fair to the participants whom I do not know, I will just post random photos of the kits that I was able to shoot before my camera's batteries ran out. I present to you the kits in this year's Bandai Model Kit World Cup Philippines!

edit* I am really tired now, I might edit this post tomorrow, it was a 2 hour drive from the venue to my place... dropping to bed now! Goodluck again to ALL the partcicipants! You are all winners in my book already! :D

glimpse of my " Gilgamesh project " before submission to BMKWC 2010

It's just a few minutes after 6 am here in the Philippines, I will be leaving the house and submit my " Gilgamesh project " for Bandai Model Kit World Cup in a few more hours. I am really glad that I added the mountain at the back in the last minute.

The snow mixture of the new mountain is still a bit wet to touch, though it is not glossy anymore which is a good thing. Much like my last year's entry,  " The Graveyard " which has a wall at the back... my Gilgamesh project has a mountain to serve as background.

I like putting walls at the back of the kits, it simply forces the viewers to focus on my dio without seeing the kits at the back. You'll know what I mean when you see coverage photos of my entry later. Having a wall simply will eliminates the nuances in the background. hihi
