What is the best value G-System resin kit?

G-System-172-RX-93-Hi-Nu-Gundam Photo

The photo above is one of the masterpiece of good old friend Matt Tomczek. The kit is the G-System-1/72-RX-93-Hi-Nu-Gundam.

I am actually enjoying putting up polls in the sidebar of this blog. Kinda fun seeing your votes slowly pile up. Kinda reminds me that actual people are visiting my humble free website ( insert giggle here ). So I have another poll that I would like to see answers.

What is the best value G-System resin kit?

So what do you think guys? I am thinking of finally getting a resin kit for myself this year ( 2014 ). I am currently enjoying working with resin as I pin and hopefully paint my first ever resin which was a gift by good friend Omar aka Aor_or_die.

I think I could afford to at least get one every year. Besides I bought 5 bikes last year ( total of 240,000 php ) so sneaking one of this behemoth at least once a year during maybe my birthday or Christmas sounds reasonable ( I hope wife never reads this post ). Besides I could never join Bandai competitions anymore anyways ( at least the level or category that could get me to Japan ).

So I think I might start buying these kinds of kits starting this year. So help me out what would be the best value G-System kit that I might like out there? What should be my first G-System resin kit?

Hope you help out by answering in the poll at the sidebar... or better through comments in this post. Thanks in advance! Thanks for dropping by! Until next post guys! Just enjoy the hobby! :)

BAKUC OLD MEN Group Build

Bakuc Old Men GB Photo

I sure hope Gunpla modellers has not forgotten about us ( me! ).

Old friends from way back the Bakuc 2008 competition at Hong Kong had a chat at Facebook recently, and we decided to set up a sort of Group Build for OLD times sake.

We'll call the Group Build... OLD MEN GB! We've decided to use any Perfect Grade for the GB. The kit is not yet final though but the participants are. The participants of the GB are Matt Tomczek of the US, Raymond Loke ( Rayloke ) of Malaysia, Omar Zampetti ( Aor_or_die ) of Italy and yours truly ( of the Philippines ).

This GB should be fun! It should help us ( most specially me ) to bring back the passion in building plastic kits! I am currently setting up my new workstation at the new house and will buy supplies very soon. Hope that the workstation will be up by mid April, so that I could work on some pending commission projects.

Anyways, hope you visit this blog for updates on this GB and other projects! Until next post guys! Just enjoy the hobby! :)

Custom Gundam Base by Aor_or_die

CustomGundamBasePhoto

I was googling about some diorama ideas when I saw this photo. This base looks a little like my custom bases albeit better. I then found out I was credited from the post of my good old fellow Gunpla modeler in Aor_or_die! Makes me want to craft a diorama all of a sudden.

Cool stuff that will definitely look super nice once painted! I love the angle of the base and the protruding tubes that added so much depth to the piece. The details on the base itself is so well crafted and looks very complicated even in it's primed state. Looking forward to the painted and weathered photos of this build soon.

Do check out more photos at the blogsite of my old friend Aor_or_die. Below is the link...

Jaguar WIP by Aor_or_die

Jaguar WIP by Aor_or_die photo

I saw this scratch built monster in person, when good old friend OMAR aka Aor_or_die of Spain went here to the Philippines a while back. He showed us the unpainted casts of this monster of a build. Do check out the photos of this build when I saw it up close back then... LINK HERE.

This post is still the Work in Progress of this masterpiece. I am pretty sure we will still be awed once Omar reveals such a great inspiring work.

AOR_OR_DIE of Italy is now in the Philippines!

AOR_OR_DIE now in the Philippines Photo

Omar aka Aor_or_die of Italy and of  Gundam Dreams arrived in the Philippines a couple of days ago, and I together with a handful of MAC people met with him yesterday.

I met Omar back in BAKUC 2008 in Hong Kong and has always been sharing notes and works since then. It is super nice to see a friend in person that came from a very distant place ( 20 hours of travel from Italy to the Philippines ). I was very excited to see him since I posted this post and his masterpieces a while back, but I honestly could not describe the great feeling of seeing him in person once again.

It was also sooooooooooooo inspiring to see Omar's " MONSTERPIECE "of a kit! It is nice to see his PMS-007 Jaguar as it slowly comes to life in his website ( Gundam Dreams ), BUT it is breath taking to see all those scratch built pieces in person! Omar has outdone himself and is about to come up with the badest " monsterpiece " / Monster Grade to date!

This hobby has been so fun for the past 4 years and meeting other ( international and local ) modelers and making great friends is truly what any hobby is ALL ABOUT!

I totally enjoyed 9 hours of chatting with Omar and his friend Anar. I hope they enjoy the rest of their stay here in the Philippines, as they swim inside the crater of a volcano ( Mt. Pinatubo ) and swim with the Butandings ( Whale Sharks ) in Palawan! I also hope Omar gets to see a Tarsier as he told me he loves monkeys very much ( lol ).

A ton of THANK YOUs to both Omar and Anar for all the food and beers yesterday! And super thanks for my first resin kit and my daughter's HG Gaddes kit! Another great Gunpla experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life ( great stuff ).

Have a great one in the Philippines guys!

Massive Attack!!! modeled by Aor_or_die

Gundam_Diorama_Photo

A good modeler friend finished a superb diorama masterpiece! Like I always say, Gunpla dioramas are gems as you don't actually see a lot of them around. This particular build was inspired from Toymaker's Sinanju Trinity although this is hguc and is done by only one modeler!

Great stuff on all the modifications and the whole presentation! I particularly love the modifications on the Gundam Mark II? ( grey robot ) and the huge gatling gun of the GM? The base is simple but compliments the 3 kits very well and the color scheme of all the kits looks great together!

This was masterfully crafted by Aor_or_die and you could check out a lot of photos in his blog...

1/60 EX-S Gundam Head Desktop by aor_or_die

My good friend Aor_or_die just finished another masterpiece. Actually this is just a relax build for him as he took quite a while and a lot of work was put into his Lady Gaga Overflag. This is quite small as it is in 1/60 scale.

As usual Aor added some extra pla plate detailing on this resin kit and his weathered finishing is always a delight to behold. His finishing gives his builds a military look to the mech and it always has a  very nice vibe as the kits has more character and has a very realistic war machine feel to it.

BAKUC finals 2008 Flashback!

My previous post of Gundam Expo 2010 HK that I got from GG made me itchy to post this 2 year old photos of my experience at the same event back in 2008. It is really fun and nostalgic to see these old photos as I never posted them here in my blog before. I only started blogging last year ( November 2009 ) thus these are new old photos in my blog.

Obviously Bandai Model Kit World Cup ( BMKWC ) was called Bandai Action Kit Universal Cup ( BAKUC ) back in 2008. Much to my surprise back then, BAKUC was not the main event... It is the final event though, but it is only part of their annual Gundam Expo.

Now let us see a few of my old photos of the Gundam Expo 2008...

Lady Gaga Overflag by aor_or_die

I have featured aor_or_die in my blog twice already. First was his outstanding scratch built work on a MG Zeta and the second feature is his 1/100 Kshatriya. I really like how Aor textures his kits, definitely one of my inspiration in trying to weather my builds.

I saw his recent masterpiece at ZeroGunz yesterday of an Overflag Lady Gaga version! Yes he scratch built some parts most notably the heels and the star shaped shield to make an Overflag look like Lady Gaga or feminine somehow.

Z Gustav - scratch built by aor_or_die

Ello guys, I have here 5 pics that I burrowed from aor_or_die, I met the guy in Hong Kong last 2008 when he represented Italy in the Bakuc Finals. He won as one of the judges' special award for his kampfer and Zaku diorama ( his Blog banner ). Btw, Aor is a tall 6' 4" - 6' - 6" dude...when you see him, you would never imagine a guy with such huge hands to work with small pla plates. hehe

Anyways, his blog is Gundam Dreams and he loves super modding and super detailing his kits with pla plates also. I envy his finishing though, coz he adds textures to his kit, give them nice washes and drybrushes them to create a very nice weathered look to his works. I have not tried texturing my kits and is always playing it safe when it comes to finishing. I usually only have the guts to weather my kits whenever they are battle damaged in a diorama but have not tried it on a stand alone kit. I simply envy his weathering.

The base model for this build is a MG Zeta, not sure if it's a ver 1 or ver 2 though...but as you can see it so modified, no wonder he used the term scratch built. Now, what's great about this kit is that I could easily imagine putting textures and weathering on a Zeon mech, specially a Zaku...BUT, doing zimmerit patterns, cast iron textures and weathering on a Zeta? never!!! I was even hesitant to put lots of holes on my MG IJ last year, what more add cast iron effects on the surface! Personally, for me this is revolutionary work! we have seen thousands of clean Gundams with flawless toy - like finishing out there, and thousands of weathered Zeon / anti - Gundam mechs...or even a few battle damaged Gundams in dioramas...but a Gundam with zimmerit patterns, cast iron effects, super weathered yet in - service look...me...NEVER!

Basically this is great stuff that I cannot help
