Warmachine Hordes Painting - The 50mm Painting Contestphoto

New Monthly Contest!! I know all of us have unpainted models out there and some of us procrastinate the most on the big models! So this month anyone who enters will have 30 days to paint a 50mm model. It can be any figure as long as it has a 50mm base (Example: Epic Borka, Khador Destroyer, Extreme Carnivian etc...)
Judging will start on July 1st where the top 5 Unit's will be selected by the admins. The Best of Show award will be voted by everyone in the group out of the top five. There will be two categories entrants will be eligible for, Masters and Mercenaries. **You may only enter Masters if you have previously entered our painting contests and have placed within the top 5 previously.** Judges reserve the right to move your entry into Masters category if we feel your painting is of high enough level.
Entries will be judged July 3rd at a time yet to be determined by the admin staff.

NO GUNPLA for almost a month now...

NO GUNPLA photo

I have been staying at work ( in the office ) since October 6 and it has been a while since I last blogged. Managed to squeeze a bit of time to blog today as there is a Halloween party of sorts here at work. We are currently working on a very complex project at work as of the moment, but I should return to Gunpla very soon.

GBWC 2014 was so much fun eventhough I failed to join for the 3rd straight year. My daughter won her 2nd bronze at GBWC 2014, she is asking for a trigger type airbrush this Christmas and vows to do better than bronze next year. Dang hobby gets more expensive every year.

I deeply apologise to all my clients whom I have pending commissioned works, will focus on my commission works once I return to Gunpla next month.

The GBWC 2014 here in the Philippines was extra special as I got Master Kawaguchi autographed all my ancient Gunpla trophies. Great stuff, hope to join next year's event with an entry.

Should make this space more active by next month.  Thanks as always for the support guys! :)

3D Drone modelled by Mr.GAV

3D Drone by MrGAV photo

I am planning to revisit my 3D skills ( 3D Studio Max / Maya ) soon and it was a really nice surprise that one of the better fellow Gundam modeller in Mr.Gav is very good at the same craft!

3D modelling is a tedious work. It requires skills and patience much like Gunpla, only you do not get your hands dirty. It is a super fun way of creating creatures and mecha from nothing. Personally the only downside is that you could not hold it between your hands unlike actual plastic models. Nevertheless it is a very fun and fulfilling craft!

I have featured Mr. Gav numerous times here in my blog - Mr. Gav @ DC23mecharts

However I am inviting you to visit his own website for more photos of his marvelous Drone modelled in 3D! Super cool inspiring stuff that I few people could scratch build with plastic! Here is the link below to Mr.Gav's website...

Privateer Press Insider - SEAN BULLOUGH

Privateer Press Insider - SEAN BULLOUGH photo

I have been following the Privateer Press Insider for the past few weeks now and I have with me a compilation of all the insider entries of Sean bullough.

Some time ago, when I was a kid, my parents thought it would be a good idea to give me a bag of lead as a Christmas present. Fortunately for me, it was in the form of medieval knights; otherwise, I’d probably be an accountant today. Thank you, Mom and Dad.
Later, my interests turned toward model kits; they were bigger and had more detail. I was drawn to tanks and aircraft, mostly. I was always cutting them up or making them from scratch using plastic card and found objects. Many years and four states later, I find myself in Seattle doing pretty much the same thing I’ve always done: building models and loving it.
Besides making new plastic warjack weapons, Skorne artillery, and other yet-to-be seen models, I also make the resin castings we use for Monsterpocalypse and the new plastic releases.
What am I working on now? Making rope—or trying to make it look better, I should say. Most of my sculpting experience has been mechanical or straight-line, which almost always means the models are larger. The models I am working on now are smaller, which means thinner rope than I’m used to, so I’ve been trying different methods of making it.
I might do a short tutorial about that for the next blog.
I’m making the move toward digital sculpting, since most mechanical work is done that way now, but it is difficult. Sculpting in a computer program is very different than sculpting “IRL.” You have to change the way you think because you’re not using physical materials. So if there are any would-be sculptors out there who love to make tanks, fighters, or mecha, I would start by learning how to use 3D or CAD software. That’s where the future lies.
- Sean Bullough

Sean is basically one of the many super talented master sculptors of Privateer Press and has done a lot of the masterfully and beautifully sculpted figures we see on our gaming tables today. I am an instant fan and thought I'd put up a single post of all of his entries todate. This compilation post would be my instant access to all his great quick tutorials and insights in sculpting.

Helpful insightful stuff for any modeler / hobbyist out there! Here are the links guys...

Privateer Press Warmachine KHADOR artworks

Privateer Press Warmachine KHADOR artworks photo

It's my last day in Graveyard shift and what better way to kill time is to blog!

I am investing a lot of time learning and ingesting the Khador Faction of Warmachine for the past few days. I plan to slowly collect them as I build my Trollbloods army. Besides painting blue Trolls all the time gets tiring ( I think ) and collecting a red army alongside blue Trolls would look really cool on my display shelf or against each other.

Immersing myself with the Official artworks from Privateer Press is the best way to appreciate the awesome unique design of the Warmachine / Hordes universe! I am truly in love with all their designs as I find them unique and refreshing. Anyways I hope you enjoy this post / compilation of Khador artworks I found all over the net. Great stuff!

Rorsh and Brine painted by Kensei Yonzon

Rorsh and Brine painted by Kensei Yonzon photo

Just would like to share a super nicely painted Hordes Rorsh and Brine from the Minions Faction painted by Kensei Yonzon. The highlighting is just enough to bring the nice details of the models. The color tones and blending are a sight to behold and the base looks really cool with those green runes. I Love the photography as well as it made the models pop out a bit more. These models should look stunning in person!

Kensei is basically the main guy who poisoned me into this new hobby of mine. He does not paint as much as he wants to but he always comes out with stunning little masterpieces every time. Kensei is my Wikipedia when it comes to Warmachine stuff as I ask him about anything Warmachine everytime.

These models are his entry for the monthly PAINT the TARGET mini online contest at LOST Hemisphere. A great way to push yourself to painting your miniatures rather than play them in bare metal. Anyways I am looking to join this monthly thing soon and I'll leave you with the Paint the target February submissions...

Fête des gosses @ n-s.prod.over-blog.com

Fête des gosses @ n-s.prod.over-blog.com photo

Really really cool stuff I came across at CMON ( CoolMiniOrNot ).

Spending most of my time at both the Privateer Press forums and CoolMiniOrNot is so refreshing after so many years of playing with plastic robots ( Gundam ). My old galleries are full of my old plastic robots still, but I hope to outnumber them with miniatures soon ( at least this year ).

This particular mini vignette makes you hold a smile for the rest of the day. A baby Predator versus a baby Alien! Intricte sculpts and very clever story. Painting is perfect as always as you will seldom see less than outstanding works at CMON.

You could vote and view this photo at CMON in HERE or head out to the artists site... here is the link guys...

WARMAHORDES artworks at deviantART

WARMAHORDES artworks at deviantART photo

As I am practically killing time here in the office, I figured I'd share with you some Warmachine / Hordes artworks by the artists commissioned by Privateer Press.

Awesome breathtaking stuffs that I would use in my blog posts from time to time. Same as the models themselves, the artworks shows the attention of detail design put into each character of Warmachine and Hordes. And much like the models themselves, each artwork is shouting character and originality! Great stuff as always that any fan would love to have quick access to!

So here is the link to all the great Warmachine / Hordes artworks at deviantART...

Cang the Implacable by Pedro Fernandez!

Cang the Implacable photo

Just joined a website / forums and I am at awe with all the fantastic miniatures they have there.

Man my Gunpla dioramas looks like toys! The amount of overly realistic sculpts and miniatures are too much at CoolMiniOrNot.com. Bases and dioramas are freakingly detailed and it just puts some of my past work to shame. I am so into this mini stuff these days and I am even thinking of renaming this website.

Anyways I have here my dream resin kit as of the moment. It is pretty much affordable for the quality and size of the sculpt. The Cang the Implacable was sculpted by Pedro Fernandez and is almost 2 feet tall from runed castle to the tip of the wings. This weighs at 3.5 months and Pedro Fernandez sculpted this monster for 3 months!

I am so short of words to describe this monster of a resin kit and should have one of this one of these days ( years ). Do check out more photos at CMON, here is the link guys...

AOR_OR_DIE of Italy is now in the Philippines!

AOR_OR_DIE now in the Philippines Photo

Omar aka Aor_or_die of Italy and of  Gundam Dreams arrived in the Philippines a couple of days ago, and I together with a handful of MAC people met with him yesterday.

I met Omar back in BAKUC 2008 in Hong Kong and has always been sharing notes and works since then. It is super nice to see a friend in person that came from a very distant place ( 20 hours of travel from Italy to the Philippines ). I was very excited to see him since I posted this post and his masterpieces a while back, but I honestly could not describe the great feeling of seeing him in person once again.

It was also sooooooooooooo inspiring to see Omar's " MONSTERPIECE "of a kit! It is nice to see his PMS-007 Jaguar as it slowly comes to life in his website ( Gundam Dreams ), BUT it is breath taking to see all those scratch built pieces in person! Omar has outdone himself and is about to come up with the badest " monsterpiece " / Monster Grade to date!

This hobby has been so fun for the past 4 years and meeting other ( international and local ) modelers and making great friends is truly what any hobby is ALL ABOUT!

I totally enjoyed 9 hours of chatting with Omar and his friend Anar. I hope they enjoy the rest of their stay here in the Philippines, as they swim inside the crater of a volcano ( Mt. Pinatubo ) and swim with the Butandings ( Whale Sharks ) in Palawan! I also hope Omar gets to see a Tarsier as he told me he loves monkeys very much ( lol ).

A ton of THANK YOUs to both Omar and Anar for all the food and beers yesterday! And super thanks for my first resin kit and my daughter's HG Gaddes kit! Another great Gunpla experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life ( great stuff ).

Have a great one in the Philippines guys!
