me and my rottweiler Panzer caricature

Panzer and me caricature Photo

I needed a break from all the web stuffs I have been doing for the past week... I also needed a quick break from the snap fitting of my Real Grade Aile Strike Gundam commission. So I just got home from walking my 5 month old rottweiler and sort of remembered that I have a drawing of him with me that I did a few weeks ago.

Nothing much here really, it is just a pen drawing using a BIC blue ball pen, that I did weeks ago in my office. I rarely draw anymore these days... but I guess you won't really lose the skill or talent or whatever you may call it. My cross hatching is kinda rough though as it has been years since I did this. But as it is a drawing of my dog and me, I kinda like it of course.

I actually did a lot of caricature stuff 12 years ago when I was in college. I used to get hired as sort of a clown in children's parties. But instead of putting up a makeup, I then had a small table and lots of papers and pencils, and all the kids line up and I drew them their caricatures. The line of kids in front of my table was actually always longer than the line in the face painting table.

It was really fun and I got like 3,000 pesos for 2 hours which is I think good money until now. But I guess an old man like me won't really get a long line of kids that I used to get back then. lol. Oh btw, that is my happy face in the drawing. hehehe

Anyways here are a few more photos of my caricature.

my Rottweiler Panzer at 4 months old!

Rottweiler at 4 months photo

My Rottweiler Panzer is 4 months old on July 26! Meaning I have not done Gunpla for two months now. I'll be working on the MG Zeta commish today though, so I should have updates by tomorrow. Anyways, after the bite incident, me and Panzer are doing fine.

I've taught him not to bite my hands since then. He is roughly 16 kilos right now and is doing really good on his current diet. He is gobbling 3 cups a day of Eukanuba Lamb and Rice for puppies, distributed in 3 meals. I might change diet next month as his current diet is getting expensive really fast.

He is also getting really huge as you can see in the photos and I might not carry him like this by next month when he is 5 months old. Panzer will be 5 months old by the time we have our MAC forums Anniversary Party!

P.S. The background on the photos shows our unfinished house renovations that I keep talking about. :)

I got RABIES yesterday!!!

dog bite photo

Yes I got rabies yesterday! I was accidentally bitten by my dog Panzer yesterday. I was telling him to leave the plastic bag in his mouth and I managed to take it from him as usual after telling him no. But I noticed that there is a small piece left in his mouth and I got scared my dog might swallow it. I then quickly took it in his mouth and my dog quickly tried to grab it from my hand.

Notice that the wound is not the usual round hole bite marks? Simply because Panzer ( my dog ) was trying to grab the plastic bag from my hand and NOT bite my hand. Basically one of his fangs slashed through my right thumb. It was a bit messy and bloody and my right thumb is still swollen up to now.

I then went to the hospital for a toxoid and anti rabies shot. I will be getting 4 more anti rabies shot up to August. I'm good but just was not able to do Gunpla yesterday and today. However I am still praying for Panzer's health. Hopefully he will be okay. The vet told me that he is basically under observation for two weeks and his supposedly last vaccine yesterday was cancelled.

Hoping the best for my puppy... hope all is well in two weeks.

No wonder my dog is still hungry...

Dog Kibble Photo

I just got home from the office and just walked my Rottweiler Panzer for his poop walk ( so that he won't poop in his house ). Anyways as I've posted a while back, Panzer got sick for 3 days and is all well now. However he seems still a bit hungry after 2 scoops of kibble every meal.

He gets 3 meals a day with 2 scoops of Eukanuba Lamb and Rice. As I have suspected, I am NOT feeding him enough! Apparently my kibble scooper ( a toy cup ) is 1/3 cup only, so basically I am feeding him 2/3 cup a meal. After some research, I discovered that I am feeding him 1/3 cup less than what I should be feeding him at 3 months of age. I should be feeding him a cup a meal and not 2/3 cup a meal.

Panzer just turned 3 months 5 days ago ( June 26 ), so I have been feeding him 1/3 cup less than what he should be getting for the past 5 days. I already took a different scooper for his kibble earlier before posting and it should fix the problem.

Glad I researched earlier, at least I know I have only been underfeeding my Rottweiler for 5 days. Now I have here a chart to remind myself and save myself from googling " How much " should I roughly be feeding my Rottie.

Age                          type of food       meals/day       cups/day
2-3    months             growth               2-3                   2-3
3-4    months             growth               2-3                   2 1/2-3 1/2
4-6    months             growth                  2                   3-5
6-8    months             growth                  2                   4-6 1/2
8-18  months             growth                  2                   4-6
males-1 1/2-2 years  growth                   2                   5-6
Adults                       adult                      2                   2-6
pregnant/nursing     growth                 2-3                   2-12 go by condition

Sorry for the irrelevant post, but this post would save me from googling everytime. :)

Panzer at exactly 3 months old today!

Rottweiler puppy Photo

I am really really happy that my Rottweiler Panzer is 3 months old today! I got a serious scare 4 days ago when Panzer vomited his breakfast a few minutes before his lunch time. He did not eat at all that day and I had to make sure that he drinks water at least.

The next morning we rushed to the vet. The vet gave him 6 cans of Hill's ( soft ) prescription diet which is a liver spread like meal. The vet also injected a multivitamin shot and an antibiotic shot. I am still feeding Panzer the Hill's soft diet until now and he is still taking his antibiotics twice a day until tomorrow. Panzer gobbles up a can of the Hill's soft diet a day but I am adding a bit of his old kibble since yesterday.

Eventhough Panzer is still in meds and soft diet, he is doing fine now! Gladly the antibiotics, the soft meal and the Gatorade in his water helped him survive the ordeal. It was such a scare and the vet said he might have eaten something bad. I am now more vigilant whenever we walk as he might eat something bad again.

Anyways, we will be walking in an hour as the weather is really good today. Also Panzer has lost interest in noontime meals these days, I am just feeding him breakfast and dinner since yesterday. Anyways, here are some photos of my now healthy 3 month old Rottweiler Panzer...

my Rottweiler Panzer from 5 weeks and beyond!

I just saw a 6 week old Labrador puppy while walking Panzer earlier this afternoon. The disparity in size is astonishing! I got Panzer at a very early age of 5 weeks ( not advisable ) thus I kinda remembered how small the little fur ball was when I got him.

Of course Panzer was a ton more handsome than a Labrador puppy as his muzzle is a lot cuter coz it is bigger, shorter and wider than a normal Lab puppy. Rottweiler bias aside, it was such a delight to see a small Lab puppy who was almost the same age when I got my Panzer.

I then thought of putting up yet another post of my little Rot. I will be editing this post and will be adding recent photos of Panzer as he grows up. Photos below shows Panzer at 5 weeks ( 2.5 kilos ) to 11 weeks (  8.2 kilos ). Panzer will be exactly 3 months old in 6 days ( Sunday, June 26 ).

On a side note, me and my family have relocated to my dad's house today. Our house is already a total mess as it is under renovation and the continuous rains has made it impossible to live in. The roof is wrecked thus water is pouring in from the ceiling.

Anyways, today I have made the second floor  of my dad's house as my temporary home and have also set up a corner in which I could do Gunpla... so Gunpla updates as soon as this weekend guys!

Rottweiler puppy for SALE!!!

me and my Rottweiler photo

NOPE I am not ever selling my Panzer, I'd rather sell half of my Gunpla collection ( unbuilt ) than sell this not so little guy. My Rottweiler Panzer is 3 months old by June 26 so his about 10 to 11 weeks old now. I've got a few blog posts about my Rottie and some photos but I never had a photo of me carrying the fur ball.

After seeing some great photos of my Rottweiler Panzer's siblings with their breeder and owner, I thought of asking my wife of taking photos of me carrying Panzer. Of course I always carry him around sometimes, but I always hate seeing my fat face in photos. But I thought these photos is the best way to see how much Panzer has grown since I got him.

Panzer is pretty average for his breed, but the furball ain't small in any standards. Love looking at the photos of my Rottie so much, though I always hate looking at my fat face but I think photos like these is the best way to see how much a puppy has grown.

On a side note, Camiot Paglinawan ( breeder ) is still selling ONE more female Rottweiler puppy at 11 weeks old. Hope another responsible owner gets to get a black Rottweiler furball soon.

Now here are more photos of my Rottie Panzer ( and me )...

my Rottweiler Panzer at 9 weeks

Rottweiler puppy photo

My Rottweiler is basically 3 months old by June 26. So I realized he is basically 9 weeks old and not 10 weeks in these photos, my bad. Anyways I doubt he will look different a week from now in the photos. My Rottie just had his 3rd visit to the vet, this time I had him leashed at the back of the pick up truck. He kinda enjoyed the wind in his face I think.

At 9 weeks old, Panzer is now 6 kilos or 13 something pounds. I am now the only one who could carry this 13 pounder out of his crate and the only one who could walk him around our village. He is starting to " heel " well during our walks but is too fond of sniffing sometimes.

Anyways, just wanted to document and share these photos of him relaxing with his block of ice before his lunch. It is really hot these days whenever it is not raining, so a block of ice or some ice cubes during the daytime and noontime is a must. Panzer actually barks for some ice whenever we forget to give him one. He needs a couple of ice blocks until around 4 pm everyday. Now here are some photos of my " still " cute Rottweiler puppy Panzer...

How to leash train your playful puppy!

retractable leash by Flexi

Nope I have no plans of renaming my blog to " DC Dog Crating " blog. However I thought of sharing how to properly leash train your puppy. I just got home from watching Kung Fu Panda 2 with my wife and kids and I also got a nifty expensive leash for my pup!

This retractable leash is for my Rottweiler Panzer. Panzer is still 2 months old as of this writing, but I figured the best leash to get is the one for large breeds already. I basically do not want to buy leashes every 3 months.

This is basically the best way to leash train a puppy that is too playful to walk with. This leash extends and retracts base on the movement of the pup thus you do not restrain the neck of the little guy. The leash has a locking system if you want and need it to have a fix length. This leash can extend to 16 feet and can handle dogs up to 132 pounds.

Anyways for those who are interested on HOW to use this and properly leash train your puppy, here is a video on how to...

Just finished my Rottweiler Panzer's new crate!

Rottweiler Photo

At 2 months and 2 days old, my Rottweiler Panzer basically outgrew his old red crate. I finished painting the crate yesterday and managed to finish putting the roof and the floor panels today ( with some help of course ). Although the new crate is too roomy as of now, I am pretty sure my Rottweiler is going to fill those spaces sometime soon.

The crate is 6 feet tall at the tallest point, 4 feet at the front and 3 feet at the sides. The roof area is 6 feet x 6 feet... not too big once Panzer is fully grown in roughly around 13 months. The crate features a nice gap at the bottom to slide his dish and the door is big enough for me to go inside with my puppy.

Panzer immediately loved his new crate as he jumped around it while playing with his red ball. Rottweiler puppies loves to chew, so I also placed some chew toys for extra fun. It is not advisable to put a puppy in a large crate as he might think there is extra room for his bathroom. But I could not afford to buy crates every 3 months, so I hope he does not soil it as often.

Panzer has a nice home now, but our own house is still pretty much under construction / renovation. I still do not have space to do Gunpla... but I am hoping to do so very soon.

On a side note, anyone who has a Rottweiler puppy should know that these pups loves ICE so much! I basically put a huge chunck of nice every noon time and Panzer licks it and sleeps on it! The photo below actually captured Panzer sleeping over the ice chunks. :)

I bought a Rottweiler book a few days back and I have read it thoroughly. In fact I have read this book twice from cover to cover already. I highly recommend the book as it is so informative and fun to read. My wife not being a dog lover kinda liked Panzer a bit more after reading a few pages of this book.
