PG Zeta commission work WIP part XII

Ello guys, I just finished painting the internals with a custom mix Tamiya acrylic gunmetal of some sort yesterday. I also used Tamiya copper for the fat part of the pistons...everything went well, and as usual the paint retarder worked like a charm. PG Zeta commission work WIP part XI

Hello again, I painted the armor parts of the PG Zeta yesterday and I altered the color scheme a bit. Instead of just using hues of grays on it, I used bluish gray tones. I primed the parts the other day, let it stand to cure overnight and painted the armor parts yesterday. It took me around 8 hours painting them and got really tired and slept early. As usual I used Tamiya acrylics on these parts, some Tamiya retarder and future to seal in the acrylic paint...anyways here are some pics of the supplies/paints I used...

PG Zeta commission work WIP part X

Hello again, I have been rough sanding and wet sanding the PG Zeta parts today since 11 am and just finished around 3 pm. Phew, so many parts to sand, I have finished sanding all the armor parts and they are ready to be put on satay sticks for priming. I have not sanded / cleaned the exo parts and the backpack though, but is planning to do that after priming the armor parts. Before sanding I did some panel lines on the huge leg armors and some other simple mods like cutting to a few parts...Anyways, here are some pics...

PG Zeta commission work WIP part IX

UPDATE 01-25-10 : Added holes and puttied the seamlines

Hello guys, this will be the last set of pics of the PG Zeta as a whole unpainted kit ...I will be disassembling this later and will wet sand and clean up the parts individually. I will of course put the parts individually in satay sticks for priming. I highly doubt that I will reassemble the parts after priming, I will just continue to paint the parts while they are in satay sticks. Reassembling the parts of a PG after priming is pretty inefficient and will take up so much time. ( lazy boy ).

PG Zeta commision work WIP part VIII

UPDATE 01-24-10 : snap-fited the backpack and test-fited to the diorama

Hello guys, I snap-fited the backpack alas...and I must say it took a lot of energy from me, I hate wires and leds and the backpack has a few, so I am retiring from gunpla today. I will add very minor details to the backpack soon and maybe remove all the seams tonight...the whole back pack is flourishing with seamlines!!!

PG Zeta commission work WIP part VII

UPDATE 01-23-10 : PG Zeta mods done!

Hello guys, at last I have finished pla plating the PG Zeta, I just added more small pla plates and I do consider it done now. I used a .5mm pla plate for the small strips and will add a few holes later tonight or tomorrow.

I would also like to share my Hasegawa eggplane which I finished painting earlier today...I used a Tamiya retarder for the first time and it went well...

UPDATE 01-18-10: Initial pla plating...

Hello guys, I did some further pla plating with the PG Zeta but will continue to add smaller pla plates later. I won't work on it anymore today...but will continue some other time, to distance myself from the build and analyze if it needs more. But I will definitely add smaller plates soon. Next stop is to snapfit the backpack and do some rivet holes here and there...there has been no major mods, so less clean up work and I will be priming this baby soon. Anyways here are some pics...

PG Zeta commision work WIP part V

UPDATE 01-11-10 : Chop Chop and away!

Hello Guys, It's been a while since I've worked with this kit...first I finished my MG Acguy, then I did some wallpapers and I did the wall mounted dio for the Brutishdog. Now, I have a few updates on this kit, Basically I did lots of chopping, sawing and filing today, The intension is to make the overall look consistent with my head mods and look a bit evolve type looking...I never imagined in my wildest gunpla dreams that I will have the patience and determination to do a PG evolve type. I must say that it is a bit difficult, the PG armors are so darn thick...some parts are up to 1.5mm thick and the thinnest parts are at least 1mm thick, it was kinda tiring to saw...but it was a hell of fun. Now, i am planning to get a PG Zaku and do lots of sawing and chopping to it...basically I plan to super modify a PG Zaku soon.

This are my Hase saws...there are lots of different shapes, but I only used the triangular saw for straight cuts with edges and the tear drop shape for portions without edges.

Here is a pic of the head mods that was shown in the previous part of this WIP...I will have to stay consistent with the evolve type look and chop away some parts...

The leg parts after sawing, I separated the parts to give it more detail and look more evolve looking...

Now, more chopping and sawing of the leg armors, exposing the internals as a result...

Now here is a few pics of the skirt armor, I shamelessly copied boss Eday's skirt mods...chopping the one piece white part into two...

In the pic below you can see I chopped another section, now I have to scratch built some internal details for that part...

I also chopped the red parts on the forearm just for the sake of exposing some internal goodness...I will have to mod this further coz it looks stupid.

I also chopped some parts on the chest vents, giving it a more evolve type feel to it. I just used an ordinary Tamiya art knife for these mods...In part IV of this WIP, the chest vents looks like this...

The ootb vents looks too ordinary and squarish, thus I chopped off some parts...

Now here are some pics showing the overall look of the mech...I must say the daunting ( but FUN ) task of chopping those thick armors was well worth it.

I could say that the hardest part of the modding is over...up next is my most favourite part...PLA PLATING! now that won't be as daunting, but won't be as fun either ( joke ). Paint Chipping with the Hair Spray Technique

UPDATE 12-21-09 : Painting the base...

Hello guys, I just got home from the grocery an hour ago and primed the base, I also gave it some battle damage effects with a soldering iron...

I usually use Bosny grey primer, but I decided I will try the hairspray technique used by other modellers like fichtenfoo...the hairspray technique will expose the first layer of paint, making it look like paint chipping. I used RJ primer red, coz it looks like rust in a way...First I did a preliminary coat of primer red just to see how the base looks like...

PG Zeta commision work WIP part II

Hello guys, after mounting the PG Zeta over an old base and a piece of wood, I started working on the base of the huge kit. The base is pretty much and obviously inspired by Fritz's awesome work on his Sinanju...it is basically a part of a space colony. My base will be weathered and battle damaged though, unlike Fritz's nice clean work on his dio...making it faster to do than adding nice neat details.

PG Zeta commision work WIP part I

woHello guys, I just got this PG Zeta this afternoon, lovely box with a lineart illustration of both the rider and mech mode of the Zeta...This is actually my first time to build a PG....and after opening the box I was kinda surprised to see two smaller MG boxes inside...the first one I opened contained the unassemble parts of the backpack and the second box has the PG Zeta assembled already.

My first impression was of course wow, it's huge!...however on second thought it looks like my Transformer animated series toys, lots of bare spaces and very plain looking, BUT, if you look at the mechanisms closely...even the underside of the feet have piston stuff...nice looking mech, but will hopefully look better once I give it a few modding here and there. Anyways here are the pics...
