Mg Zeta WIP - Khaki colored diorama is now Grey

In my previous update, I added some more damages and a catwalk on the Khaki colored hangar. I also re-primed it with Bosny flat black as preparation for re-coloring it grey as requested by my client. I managed to paint it it's new base color and have also sealed the paint with future.

I painted this with Tamiya acrylics and mixed medium grey with some blue to somehow give it some sort of color. I will then try to bring out the details and make the diorama look more interesting by applying some rust colored washes once the future has cured. Anyways, here are some more photos...

MG Zeta WIP - Khaki colored diorama revised

Unfortunately my client did not like the Khaki colored diorama, he hates the color and wanted it re painted in grey. I like the Khaki color but hey the client is boss, he also wanted an additional catwalk similar to my coup de etat diorama thus I added a small one at the right side of the dio.

I also added more damages to the hangar as the client also wanted more. Once this is approved, I can move on to painting this grey this weekend. Not much photos but here are a few for the client to inspect...

MG Zeta WIP - diorama extended

Just a quick post before I continue working with this diorama. I basically extended the diorama using some old diskettes and reinforced it with balloon sticks and tons of Epoxy. The first photo shows how small the initial dio set up looked like so the client requested for an extension.

I was really trying to make the dio as compact as I can as shipping to US Australia will obviously cost more for a bigger diorama. The client then gave me the go signal to extend the dio so that the damaged Dom would not look too out of place. The diorama looks better but way bigger now.

I will now add details to the wall part, details such as damaged catwalks and and some typical hangar pla  plating. I will also be adding more bits and pieces around the Dom and make it look like it damaged a certain amount of area as it skid towards its final position. Anyways, here are some progress photos so far...

Paint Chipping with the Hair Spray Technique

UPDATE 12-21-09 : Painting the base...

Hello guys, I just got home from the grocery an hour ago and primed the base, I also gave it some battle damage effects with a soldering iron...

I usually use Bosny grey primer, but I decided I will try the hairspray technique used by other modellers like fichtenfoo...the hairspray technique will expose the first layer of paint, making it look like paint chipping. I used RJ primer red, coz it looks like rust in a way...First I did a preliminary coat of primer red just to see how the base looks like...

PG Zeta commision work WIP part II

Hello guys, after mounting the PG Zeta over an old base and a piece of wood, I started working on the base of the huge kit. The base is pretty much and obviously inspired by Fritz's awesome work on his Sinanju...it is basically a part of a space colony. My base will be weathered and battle damaged though, unlike Fritz's nice clean work on his dio...making it faster to do than adding nice neat details.
