Paint Chipping verDC23 Prep & Undercoat

Paint Chipping verDC23 Prep & Undercoat photo

First off, my apologies as I cannot post detailed progress pics here at my blog, as my photos are reserved for something... hmmm... better.

Anyways, I am in the middle of working with my MG Gunner Zaku Warrior when I suddenly wanted to do some heavy weathering. I see a few well done over weathered builds at Facebook. I like them very much.

But photos might be intimidating for new modelers. So I felt I had to create a video to show that weathering is super easy ( and fun ).

I find heavy weathering, without physical damages to the kit a bit off tho. So I thought the first part of my video should teach people what to do in preparing kits for heavy weathering later.

Listed below are my STEPS seen videos at my new Youtube channel, which shows how I prepped the pieces before painting.

PAINT CHIPPING verDC23 PART 1

  • STEP 1 - clean all the nub marks and seam lines. A nice well cleaned ( well done ) kit should look more Pro level work, even if you plan to over weather them.
  • STEP 2 - Scribe the existing panel lines. I scribed with a .5 scriber as this is a Mega Scale and is a big kit.
  • STEP 3 - I made the panel lines deeper with a needle point scriber. This should be great during the washes stage.
  • STEP 4 - Bevel the panel lines with a V shape chisel. Bevels will always make detail look like they are part of the original design. Very sharp un-beveled panel lines and detail look like paper craft.
  • STEP 5 - Melt the plastic with soldering iron. Be careful. Also be mindful of the direction and position of the damages.
  • STEP 6 - Chip away small edges of the armor with an art knife. This will compliment the heavy weathering later.
  • STEP 7 - Chip away small holes and damages with a V shape chisel.
  • STEP 8 - Sand and clean up excess plastic and sharp edges ( edges of damaged parts ).

PAINT CHIPPING verDC23 PART 2

  • Paint Vallejo Mecha Black Primer
  • Paint with Vallejo Brown and Sand Primer ( mix ) for pre shading
  • Splatter Panzer Color Light Rust
  • Seal with Mecha Color Gloss Varnish
  • Let cure overnight

That's it! I hope you still find this informative, even if I can't share detailed photos ( here ). Thanks as always for dropping by! Until next update guys!

Saludos!

Official E3 Warmachine video game trailer

Official E3 Warmachine video game trailer photo

I am not much of a video game guy as I suck at it and when I suck at something... I don't do it as much, as I won't enjoy it obviously. My 8 year old daughter could beat me at any fighting game easilly, that is how I suck... slow hand and eye motor skills I guess.

I used to play some PS2 Lord of the Rings games before, some StarCraft games and a lot of 2K NBA games... but as I've said, I am not good at it at all. Besides playing computer games these days would eat up so much of my hobby time, so I do not play them since I started my old hobby ( Gunpla ) back in 2008.

I know I am almost a year late since the launch of this Warmachine video game trailer... but I got so excited seeing the Warjacks in action I figure I'd share them to my readers as well. Miniatures ( painted ) looks great on table tops, but seeing them in CG video trailers just adds so much character to an already characterful Warmachine universe. Anyways here is the trailer of the yet to be realeased? Warmachine video game...

How to PLAY Warmachine MKII videos by MWG

How to PLAY Warmachine MKII videos photo

I am on my second to the last day of my Graveyard shift in the office and what a better way to spend dead hours than to watch videos on Youtube on everything about Warmachine!

I have yet to play nor build an army of Hordes or Warmachine and have yet to buy some starter packs, but I am trying to learn how to play Warmachine for the past few days.

The game looks simple to play yet involves complex strategies. The game looks so fun and fast pace and seems very straight forward. I am pretty sure it will take a while to be good at the game though it looks fun even if you lose!

This is the only scenario or situation that I think I will enjoy losing!

Anyways to aide other people who are looking to get into Warmachine and people like me who are trying to learn the game, I thought I'd share a post with some cool videos showing how you play the game of Warmachine. As I've said in my previous posts... Warmachine is one of those nice table top games that you would enjoy even with a small number of models / units. You won't need to spend a fortune to enjoy the game.

Anyways here are a few videos by MiniWarGaming at youtube and a link to the quick start rules at Privateer Press...

WARMACHINE Collosals preview video

Privateer Press WARMACHINE Collosals Preview photo

I am killing time in the office watching and reading a lot of Privateer Press for the past couple of hours and I figured that any reader of this site would enjoy this video.

I am very new to this table top hobby and should just be getting ( buying ) my 3rd Hordes unit later today. I am so amazed at all the characters that Warmachine and Hordes has to offer though as I find them very original and nothing like your usual aliens and other usual stuffs.

If you are into robots, much more steampunk designs... then Warmachine is the perfect stuff to go!

The video below features the upcoming Warmachine Collosals of both the Cygnar ( blue ) faction and a glimpse of the collosal of the Khador ( red ) faction. Both are great stuff! Although I find the Khador Collosal a bit more menacing. Do check out the video and hope non-Warmachine and Hordes fan gets to like these great wargaming stuff more after seeing these huge Collosals!

old Gundam WZC ad - What is your LEVEL of commitment?

Gundam WZC commercialposter

Shared to me a few days back by Ben ( Izakku81 ) at Facebook. You won't really know how to feel towards the commercial... It's both kinda cool yet kinda funny. I also did not understand the levels at first, but eventually realized that it talks about how many hours you spend on a model kit.

I spend like 4 hours per day on weekends normally. However with 2 months away from Gunpla Builders World Cup, I spend around 2 hours a day and 8 hours on weekends to try to finish my projects. I guess I am on the level 5 category. BTW here is the video Ben sent me...

So what level is your Gunpla commitment guys???

Real Steel is REAL cool stuff!

Real Steel wallpaper
click image to enlarge to wallpaper size

I watched the Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides a couple of Sundays back with my kids and also saw the Kung Fu Panda 2 yesterday with them. Both are really fun to watch but I would not spoil you by comparing it with their previous sequels.

I saw the Real Steel Trailer featuring Hugh Jackman twice in those movies already. And being a UFC and a bit of boxing fan, ( because of Manny Pacquio ) makes me anticipate this movie a ton more than ALL the upcoming marvel movies. Hmmm, maybe except the Green Lantern and the Transformers of course.

Anyways this is such great and exciting stuff! At least for me and I would like to share a couple of YouTube trailers to convince you that this movie should at least be entertaining! Here they are...

This movie kinda reminds me of our ongoing concept MECHA Group Build at our MAC Forums... Hope you liked this post? Thanks as always for dropping by! Til' next update guys! :)

How to leash train your playful puppy!

retractable leash by Flexi

Nope I have no plans of renaming my blog to " DC Dog Crating " blog. However I thought of sharing how to properly leash train your puppy. I just got home from watching Kung Fu Panda 2 with my wife and kids and I also got a nifty expensive leash for my pup!

This retractable leash is for my Rottweiler Panzer. Panzer is still 2 months old as of this writing, but I figured the best leash to get is the one for large breeds already. I basically do not want to buy leashes every 3 months.

This is basically the best way to leash train a puppy that is too playful to walk with. This leash extends and retracts base on the movement of the pup thus you do not restrain the neck of the little guy. The leash has a locking system if you want and need it to have a fix length. This leash can extend to 16 feet and can handle dogs up to 132 pounds.

Anyways for those who are interested on HOW to use this and properly leash train your puppy, here is a video on how to...

BLINKY short film written & directed by Ruairi Robinson

BLINKYscreenshot

I saw this post at slashfilm.com of a really visually compelling short film ( 12 mins ) of a boy with his helper robot. I do not want to spoil your visual experience and I highly recommend you give your 12 minutes up and watch this " robot " film.

The film is directed and written by Ruairi Robinson and starred by Max Records ( Where the Wild Things Are ). This is the perfect example of great " visual " storytelling. Not much words were spoken in the film but the visuals pretty much told the story on it's own.

I love the arching of the plot as you will be abruptly treated to a very " nice " ending. The photography of the film is topnotch which resulted to a very convincing realistic compositing of the CGi. I do believe a mock up robot was used for the close ups, as it looks so real specially during the raining scenes.

Anyways, I could go on blabbing as I really enjoyed watching the film but again I do not want to spoil this visual experience... Here is the film guys, enjoy!

MAC member YouTube channels

Aside from Gunpla, what does Paul Velando ( Philippines ), Pawel Cynk ( Poland ), Matt Mrozek ( US ) and our new member tc012009 have in common? Apparently they all have Youtube channels! I thought only GundamGuns and Kamm had channels, I never thought that others have them as well.

Anyways, Matt Mrozek started a thread at one of our sections about his new Youtube channel. Handsome fella like Kamm, only a little more weighty ( hihi ), so I thought of creating a new section for everyone to start a thread of their own and introduce their YouTube channels.

The section is fresh and... empty as of this writing but will still direct you to the section as it will surely fill up very soon...

my works featured in YouTube by kamniks

I just got home from the office and while browsing around youtube for some inspiration, I was surprised to see my works as some stranger stole my photos and made a video slideshow of my Gunplas! I was a bit in awe at first but then I realize that kamniks is Kamm.... just joking Kamm! hihihi

The whole paragraph is a joke, my good friend Jonathan Kaminski aka Kamm in Gunpla forums and kamniks in youtube, asked me to answer a handful of questions for his first feature in youtube a few days ago. Kamm plans to feature modelers monthly and I am the first one to be featured.

I really like the soundtrack and I must say that my kits looks a ton better in video than in photos. I love the feature so much, just a bit curious on how my " The Graveyard " dio would look in video if it was included too. I was almost in tears to see my kits in youtube for the first time, I actually watched it 3 times!

Thanks a ton Kamm! I deeply appreciate the feature man! ; )

Earl's Dirty Beat!!!

Earl is my original and only  Gunpla buddy in the office. He is actually the main reason I am into this hobby right now. We both started back in January 2008 and we both joined our first Gunpla competition also back in 2008 ( Bankee Nationals ). He still likes Gunpla but has no time for it now... They did this video in the office earlier today and I will tweet this everyday. hehehe

Enjoy the video of a 6 foot man looking like a toddler! LOL

So I am just leaving you with a nice trailer of the 3rd installment of the Transformers series. Dang, more TF toys to buy by next year... to think I still do not have a sideswipe. :(

Thanks for dropping by! Til' next post! :D

Gundam Unicorn official PV3

Ello guys, I purposely looked for this video in youtube...I am planning to get a Kshatriya, a couple of  Geara Zulu and also a hguc Unicorn for a dio idea I have. However, I possible client inquired ( emailed ) if I could do a commission work for him of a Kshatriya, so I have to postpone the plan of getting the kit now. I am still itchy to get the kit (Kshatriya ) tomorrow because of this video but might get a MG Unicorn instead. The new series rocks, I don't care much about the plot and the details I am just really excited about the mechs...I hope they release a MG versions of the key mechs in this new Ova, specially the Kshatriya. Anyways here is a video I grabbed in youtube by eltia...

PG gundams dancing!

Ello guys, I just want to share this eye popping video of two PGs dancing...the great thing about it is that the camera is moving, stop motion can easily be achieved with your camera in a lock position. BUT this video has camera movement, great stuff! As the director / creator of this video shoots a single pose, he moves the camera and takes the shot, repose and moves the camera again for the next shot...simply unbelievable stuff. The movements of both the camera and the PGs are so smooth, I thought it is CGi. If ever I have a PG I would never attempt to do this though, I cannot imagine how limp the PGs are after the shoot, the joints could be as limp as a dead chicken after this. Anyways here is the best stop motion video of two PGs...

Gundam 00 movie trailer III

Ello guys, I found this really interesting trailer of the upcoming 00 movie...I think the video shows the design and conceptualization meetings about the mechs and may be the characterization of the pilots. The same pilots, now a bit older have new mechs for the movie namely; Rafael Gundam ( Seravee ), Gundam Zabanya ( Cherudim ), Gundam Harute ( Kyrios ) and 00 Qan[T] ( 00 ). I do not know much about the movie but I am really interested with the gimmicks and new looks of the mechs. personally I think the mechs looks meaner and better than there previous counterparts. I am looking forward to the model kit rendition by Bandai of the Rafael Gundam in particular. Anyways here is the video...

AC " White Glint " in action!

Ello guys, my client gave me the go signal to design a custom color scheme for the White Glint. I will be designing the schemes right after I finish snapfitting it though, I need to check the kit first so that I will not do lots of masking job with the color scheme design that I will do for it. And of course I will need to ask approval from my client once I designed a few schemes.

I have a few color schemes in mind...it is a bit weird though to call it " White " glint if it has a color. hehe...Anyways, my client also gave me a couple of you tube links of the " White Glint " in action and this is also my first time to post a video link here in my blog...hope it works. Here it goes...
