Followers at Instagram, members of our group page and followers of my Facebook Page has seen these work in progress photos of my MG Wing Gundam Zero Custom during the weekend. I do not or very seldom do I blog on weekends as it will eat up my precious Family and Gunpla time ( so I blog at my office, hehe ).
I was working with the scratch built chest part of my 1/48 Zaku to match the scratch built crotch part when I suddenly realized that I no longer have thick pla plates ( .3mm to 2mm ) in my stash. So I had to divert to another project so not to waste my weekend...
I then saw a couple of thin .2mm pla plates that are not so useful for pla plating ( too thin for my taste ). So I decided to hunt for my old MG Wing Gundam Zero Custom and create custom feathers for this old beautiful kit! The kit comes with rubber feathers that is almost impossible to sand and is tricky to paint, so I always wanted to replace them with Tamiya pla plates but never had the courage to do so.
I used .4mm pla plates to create the templates and for the first time I used my curved Tamiya scissors that has not much use other than cutting curved pla plates ( LOL ).
I then cut around 40+ feathers ( I think 21 per wing ) and glued ( Cement ) them in place. Although the wing looks marvelous and huge, the tips of the overlapping feathers looks so ugly! I have to design mechanical stuff to cover those up really soon.
I was also able to clean up ( sand off ) the nub marks and the seam lines last weekend. Now will proceed with detailing the armor parts and the wings to give it the old school verDC23 look.
Last photo before leaving for work. Thanks as always for dropping by! Until next post guys! Just enjoy the hobby! :)
