I have been working with this kit since around June but I only worked on it for roughly 3 months since then. Too much distractions since July thus I was only able to focused on working on this build for the last couple of months ( September & October ).
I have two inspirations for this build... the first one is Schnabelgun III by Zluca which has outstanding out of this world weathering. I am not capable of such topnotch weathering though, but I hope to reach that level one of these years.
My second inspiration is my own AC White Glint which was my first international ( client from the US ) commission work. I was really surprised to have pulled that build off coz it was my first time to do a good job on weathering a white mech.
As I've said before, the AC White Glint is the most impressive looking kit out of the box that I have built. The overall look of the mech with the Vanguard Overed Boost was outstanding. Thus, my MG Sazabi is simply a vain attempt to replicate the look of the White Glint.
This is going to be my entry in the up and coming Bandai World Cup 2010 for the Expert category. Although it will have a backpack and a diorama during the event. I obviously do not want the main kit to be revealed in not so good coverage photos come Saturday. Unless you have a really nice SLR, lighting in the event is just too lousy for the usual point and shoot camera ( like mine ). So, I present to you my standalone MG Sazabi ver DC23 ahead of time...

Top notch weathering bro! XD this will be my reference for future weathering attempts next time :)
there's just one thing you left out.... where's the huge back pack? ^^
Thanks Paul! I have not yet painted the backpack... it is raining today. :(
we both now this looks great buddy! :)
the following will be just me nitpicking but:
I kinda hoped that you will paint pipes (like on the head) a diffrent color than the body - perhaps metalic steel ?
second thing is grey on the forearms - somehow it's just doesn't "go with the fow" for me, I know they were black on Saz but this is no more Saz - it's Gilgamesh :)
but that's just me, it may work in a full dio but for now that will be all :P
I just love the chipping efect and your crazy details :D
One last thing add more power/fuel cables to the base :D
Can't wait till 6th November to see Gilgamesh in his full glory :D
Lazy to paint the pipes already. hihi... but totally agree with the gray forearms, I will need to try to put shading their or something. Thanks! XD
Love the rust. This is truly inspirational work DC. Good luck at BAKUC/BMKWC!!
Thanks a ton bro! btw, I love hanging out at Gundam Australia... all of the members ( so far ) are warm and friendly. Hope it stays that way, much like ours. :D
WOW this is super awesome! Looks really nice. I love your paint job as usual. The detail and decal application is not overly done but just right. I can feel the revival of Zeon with this build. Good job bro!
wooowww!awesome dc!i like the weathering style like a real robot and damn!the detail looks very nice!!!perfecT....world cup champ for 2010!!!
Love the weathering. Have any step by step pics? I know you use the Tamiya pastels, did you also use the hairspray technique?
Thanks a ton GG! I agree, my detailing in this one is a bit conservative and I got lazy putting so much decals, thus it came out just right. Thanks! :D
I will never be a world champ again bro... I am now in the Expert category after 2 years of competing. Expert cats never goes to the finals for the World Championships. :(... I have you guys and this blog for inspiration though! :D
Thanks Matt!!! sorry no pics as my hands are really dirty during the weathering. Do not want to dirty up my camera. No hairspray technique bro, just some paint chipping effects with citadel paint, paint chipping effects with fine tip black Gundam marker, some Tamiya enamel washes, Tamiya weathering master and some chalk pastels. :D
Dam today, was like x-mas, woke up and saw this new eye-candy present whoopee.
I admire everything about this, Weathering is spot-on bro. and the kitbash over all is top-ten.
When I decide to do a weathered kit, This will be the refrence that I will use .
all the best in the comp bro.
Thanks buddy! revealing it this halloween ( November 1 ) is spot on I think. hihi, i just finished the diorama and followed your advice on some oil spills and rust on the main hangar floor. I have yet to put footprints though, I will try to put up the gallery before the event. :D
Epic Sazabi! this is really awesome!! love everything u did bro!... Great Job!!!
Thanks a ton for the compliments buddy! the weathering it look epic I guess, if it was clean it will just look like a Sazabi with Quebley shoulders I think. :D... Thanks!
Veeeeeeeeeeery impressive weathering... i hope beginners like me could achieve such fine piece of work
Thanks! it's fairly simple, just lots of steps but fairly simple bro. :)
i wanna see the whole dio with the backpack! :D excited for bakuc man!
Thanks! just finished it now... I added 6 boosters to the backpack, it still looks like pens though. :(
Huh? :D
I like ur world winning bakuc kit.. but this one.. i think you can do better.. i guess u re still experimenting with the color i guess.. but white.. c'mon dude. i thought this would be nicer in red, but that is just my optinion.. its your kit not mine
Thanks.
Have you seen the diorama? The dio of this kit is a snow diorama, thus the white color scheme. The white color scheme serves as a great camouflage against the white snow background.
I aimed for a realistic color scheme against a realistic diorama... not making a red mecha against snow right?
IMO a red mech in the midst of white snow is great as it will look like a bulls eye for the enemies. lol
hi there! this build just looks awesome. just wanna ask, what paint did you use here, and where could i buy, here in manila, the lighter fluid you use for your enamel washes? thanks!
