1/60 G System ZAKU for the 2012 Mecha Contest!

We are having serious problems for our 2012 MECHA contest. Serious but good problems actually. A few moons back, we revealed the insane prizes of our 2012 Mecha Contest. We have a truck load of prizes from our creators and sponsors and we continue to get prize donations from our generous MAC forum members.

Good friend and long time MAC forums VIP member Matt Mrozek aka mvm3897 is donating / giving away a 1/60 G-System Zaku for our competition. As if all the prizes from our original sponsors were not enough... the prize donation is totally insane.

Needless to say... our humble one year old MAC forums is obviously setting up a not so humble online competition. This is by far the biggest and craziest competition hosted in a forums to date. And we are not yet done... more prizes and surprises in the next few moons.

Aside from the random prizes sponsored by HobbyMate, which are 8 sets of tools that will be randomly drawn from all the participants. Edmund Teo the owner of HobbyMate will be selecting his very own pick amongst all the participants of our 2012 Mecha contest.

The HOBBYMATE's pick award might not be necessarily be amongst the top winner's of the contest. It could be anyone with a very nice entry that Edmund really likes OR a very nice entry with lots of HM upgrade parts. :)

2012 competition with end of this world prizes...

Our 2012 competition is almost ready to blast you very soon! This online international competition will be hosted at our MAC forums, this will be judged and sponsored by two insane modelers, Fichtenfoo of Industriamechanika.com will be our special judge and the prize line up will simply end this world.

Obviously I am hyping up our contest, but once you've seen the prizes you'll understand my excitement. The creators of the competition has thrown insane amount of model kits for prizes already. However the prize line up is not yet final as more sponsors are lining up to give us more prizes for this huge mecha modeling event.

As I've said before... we are not going to give away old unsold model kits in shopping mall shelves. Much like our Europe Gunpla Cup prizes which was both sponsored by Hobby Link Japan and the creator of the contest Kamm, the prize line up will totally blow your mind away.

Their will be two Bandai Perfect Grade Gundam model kits, some Bandai Master Grade model kits, A lot of Kotobukiya model kits, including the Armored Core White Glint in the poster above and some more rare model kits that you need to explore the world to find them ( literally )!

FichtenFoo on board 2012 competition @ MAC forums

Yes you read it right guys! Michael Fichtenmayer aka FichtenFoo of FichtenFoo.com and of IndustriaMechanika.com is now onboard our 2012 competition at MAC forums. Master Foo graciously accepted my offer to him as special guest judge of our competition that will be online soon.

FichtenFoo needs no introduction at all. His website is where I learned all my basic skills in modeling and I constantly get inspiration from his outstanding works. He is the most complete Sci Fi modeler around. He plays with Bandai kits, works on resin kits and even designs his own line of sci fi stuffs at IndustriaMechanika.com.

The two insane creators of the 2012 competition will co judge the contest alongside master FichtenFoo. I cannot reveal those two insane creators just yet, but once we reveal the details and the prizes you will agree that the creators of this contest are simply insane.

2012 competition... online soon!

We don't call our forums MECH Arts Community for nothing. We might as well call our forums Gundam Community forums if the only builds that we do our Gundam model kits right? We love Gundams very much, but their are a ton more robots out there.

We also know that the Gunpla Builders World Cup is coming soon... well, it's all Gundams and Bandai marketing stuff, so I just want you guys to brace yourself on something bigger, better and a totally never before seen event!

We also value creativity and originality so much in our forums, and we try to push our members to do more with their model kits other than sand the nub marks and paint. So we have something really really good very soon. And I believe it is obvious by now that we do not do it small time... have you seen how we celebrated our MAC forums anniversary?

Or have you seen the prizes of our recently concluded Europe Gunpla Cup, created by Jonathan Kaminski aka Kamm? Those are great prizes courtesy of Kamm and Hobby Link Japan, BUT we assure you of even better and bigger prizes come 2012!

2 massive MECHA modeling competitions very soon!

Although the champions of our EUROPE GUNPLA CUP is not yet announced as of this writing, I just want to share the excitement and the news that 2 massive online Mecha competitions are coming up real soon! Nope, I am not talking about the official Bandai Gunpla Builders Cup this coming months, but this ought to be as fun!

I will be judging one of those massive competitions and could not join both. But I hope to see more entries than our very successful EUGC contest, as both these competitions will be open to all participants anywhere in the world. Stay tuned guys as this promises more prizes and more fun than any online contest there could be.

PINOY GUNPLA CUP coming soon @ MAC forums

This will be the first of a series of posts in lieu of our MAC anniversary party come August. I will be blogging about the humble surprises that we have for all the participants of the party until August 27 2011. Our Europe Gunpla Cup at MAC Forums is still ongoing, but I think it is but ripe to announce to you the very first PINOY GUNPLA CUP!

We just finished our MAC Forums wallpaper contest for everyone at the forums and we ended up with a deserving winner in Decay. But for our brothers in the Philippines, we are thinking much much bigger! Nope it won't coincide with the official and biggest Gunpla contest in the land, the upcoming Gunpla Builders Cup. We are very sane enough not to get near the big thing.

We assure everyone of great prizes for the competition and lots of exposure for your kits. Our Pinoy Gunpla Cup won't be an OOTB contest for sure and custom bases will be allowed to enhance the presentation of your builds. This will be an Open for all competition and the winners shall ultimately be the first Pinoy Gunpla Cup Champions!

More details shall be announced in the following weeks, so stay tuned guys!

the master grade THE O build-off starts now!!!

Yours truly ( DC23 ) and Kenny Lim aka Toymaker has agreed to do a Build-Off / Face-Off whatever you want to call it since around January this year ( 2011 ). Me and Kenny could now officially work on our projects starting now and finish it off before Bandai Model Kit World Cup starts around November.

Apparently the other admins at our MAC Forums has decided to sort of feature everyone who are doing their own build-offs this June 2011. Lots of really good modelers from the Philippines and as usual from everywhere is now actively participating in this cool and friendly mini competition between fellow modelers.

I still have to finish my 2 MG Zeta commission works before I could focus on my The O build. And my blog would also mostly focus on keeping you updated on the DC23 versus Toymaker Build-Off, so if you guys are interested to follow the other MAC Forums Build-Offs... here is the link to the build-off discussion thread in our MAC Forums...

MAC Forums 2011 Surprises!!!

Although I have been focused on promoting our forums and our members' contributions here in my blog, we are about to make big changes to the forums soon. I just met up with fellow MAC admins and officers today and we are working on some changes for the forums. Everything will be rolling before July this year and we hope to provide a better MAC Forums experience very very soon.

Aside from our ongoing MAC Forums Wallpaper Contest come July, Our forums should have its very own domain name before then. Having its own domain name means that search engines will be able to index the topics inside the forums a lot more effectively. Thus contributions from the members will have more exposure around the net.

MAC Forums will also have its own RSS capable front page! Meaning the forums could now be submitted to TOPBlogs.com for ranking and additional exposure. We currently cannot submit it to TOPBlogs, but should be able to do so once the new front page is up! We are very excited to see our forums on the list below very soon!

I will be designing the front page as we do not want a boring face for our forums. The new design should be able to feature new contributions from the members in a very creative way with the sole intention of giving credit to the members.

Lots more surprises that deserves their own blog posts! So hope you stay tuned! Thanks as always for all the members who have made the community as healthy as it is right now. Continue to enjoy the hobby and always have fun!

MAC Forums Anniversary contest 2011 - first few wallies!

Our MAC Forums wallpaper making contest is kinda rolling now! We've got a handful of entries after the announcement and we hope to see more! All of the wallies are looking great, plus seeing a lot of Gunpla images with MAC Forums logo is just a delight to behold.

A few months away from our 1st Year Anniversary and we are flooding with wallpapers already! Hopefully Google wallpaper searches will be flooded with these entries soon! Keep those wallies coming guys! And make sure to follow the size rule of the wallpapers. All wallpaper entries should be linked to a 1920 x 1200 sized image!

MAC Forums Anniv wallpaper contest - Turn A Wallpaper

I did a quick wallpaper of my most recent build / diorama as usual. Here is the Turn A head diorama composited over a cliff background. This will be the very first entry on our upcoming MAC Forums 2011 Anniversary Wallpaper contest. Yeap, the admins are not allowed to join but I figured I'd do the first ever entry. lol

Anyways, I basically used 4 images to make the wallpaper. I used the raw photo of the Turn A, a photo of a cloud, a photo of a nice desert cliff and an old paper photo. I simply erased the black background of the Turn A photo, erased the clouds of the desert cliff photo and place the clouds as the bottom layer.

I then added the old paper image as texture on top, burned some areas and cheated by adding a grainy texture. the grains basically hid the imperfections in the compositing and the distortions in the pixels. Feel free to use the wallpaper if you like and hope to see you join our wallpaper making contest.

Again here are the 3 participants of the first ever MAC online SD contest - MAC contest participants

It was very difficult to choose between the 3, kinda glad only 3 joined this contest. hihi. All of the participants did a great job on their entries. The Winged Zaku has interesting mods and has a very nice and elaborate diorama. The Pink Astray nailed the contest objective which is to make the funniest SD. The Kanpei did outstanding modifications on a simple kit and the photography / presentation is really good.

However, due to lack of funds as I am not made of money... There could only be one! ( Highlander theme song playing )... and the first MAC Champion is Pawel Cynk aka Aulon!

CONGRATULATIONS AULON!!! hmmm, now I have to ship the prizes to Poland! :D
