MG Sinanju Stein modelled by Gianshopao

MG Sinanju Stein modelled by Gianshopao photo

Absolutely stunning work by an old friend and fellow Filipino modeller Gianshopao!

I have featured the works of Gian a couple of times already. He is one of the most talented modellers in our country and his painting skills is just so flawless. Only a few could match such smooth clean finishing!

This masterpiece was his entry at last year's ( 2013 ) Bandai competition ( whatever it is called now ). Ended up with a consolation prize outside of the top 3. Nevertheless this is a beautiful piece worth raving about! The color combination is so beautiful and the modifications are clean and crisp! Gian calls this The " Obelisk ".

A ravishing build I would love to see in person one of these days. Great job Gian!

1 hour custom diorama for your Gundam model kits

1 hour custom diorama for your Gundam model kits photo

Nope this is not another rehash of my really old "glue + sand technique" for quick dioramas. This is not also a rehash of my old "wall mounted diorama " and my old popular "custom diorama out of old CD cases".

This is the most "new modeler friendly" tutorial for quick custom dioramas for your Gundam kits I have ever shared here in my site. Nothing original or spectacular here guys, just a vain attempt to inspire new modelers to create their first custom base.

I don't have much progress photos to show as this was really a quick 1 hour slash and glue extravaganza, But I do think the simple guide of...

CUT AWAY and GLUE BACK TOGETHER

... is the best way to describe this simple tutorial.

We do not see much custom bases or dioramas around the net. Heck custom bases and dioramas are not even allowed in most local contests here in the Philippines, lol.

Hopefully this post would help our new and younger modelers  ( even the old scared ones, hehehe ) to get over the fear that they could not produce PRO quality custom bases and try and work on their first custom base. Custom bases or dioramas arguably always looks better in your display cabinet than a standalone kit, ootb or modified.

So what's keeping you from doing your first ever custom base for your Gundam model kits? Go ahead cut the base into pieces that came with the kit and glue them back together. Voila! A custom unique base that only you have in this world wide web.

Their is nothing bad with the huge base that came with the MG Zeta ver 2.0 ( as seen on the photo above ). However it was made to fit the MG Zeta once it is in Wave Rider mode. The base is just too long for the Zeta when in robot mode.

Besides, this is a commission work that I will be shipping to the US eventually, so trimming the base to something smaller is a must to make it shipping friendly.

I will still be adding battle damage effects to this base and some more details, but I do think it is a very good start for new and young modelers to attempt to create their first custom base similar to what I have now.

I am always looking forward to more custom bases from new and even old modelers around the net, so I hope a few or handful of people would find this post helpful or inspirational at least.

Gundam custom base - hguc Geara Zulu WIP part IV

Ello guys, I did a simple base for the hguc Geara Zulu...I wanted the kit in flight mode so I needed to create a base for it. This will also be a mini tutorial for people who likes to build custom bases for their kits.

BTW, I do like those nifty bases by Bandai, specially those with the symbols as the base...but I kinda find them expensive and I am a cheap guy...so I always do custom ones. I might get the Zeon base though just for photo shoots of my dio-less and base-less kits. Anyways here some pics showing how I made my cheap custom base...
