G-SHOT - Gundam Australia Forums People's Choice!

The G-SHOT Gunpla photo competition is over now and Gundam Guy has shipped the prizes to all the winners. However as I have mentioned in my previous G-SHOT posts, all the judges did all the preliminary and final judging inside Gundam Australia Forums ( GAF ).

The section where ALL participants were judged was in a secret section called G-SHOT Judges Area. Only all of us judges were able to access the area during the competition. However Adam Sonar the creator of GAF has now opened the Judges Area to all the members of the forums.

If you are interested in how we selected and voted for all the 5 winners and if you are a GAF member, you could check out the Judges Area and you could also select your top picks or winners for each category. The top choices will then be the G-SHOT  >>> GAF People's choice!

Now be sure to log in with your GAF account before clicking the link... here is the Judges Area guys...

G-SHOT! 2011 Revisited & Appreciations by Gundam Guy

I just finished reading Gundam Guy's wrap up post of G-SHOT 2011 and I must say I am looking forward to next year's competition already! As most of you know, I am one of the 5 judges who got to select our 5 winners ( one in each category ) out of roughly around 500 entries around the world wide web.

This was a successful event as we were treated to so many beautiful builds from new modelers and old veteran modelers alike. I have said my thank yous to G.G. a hundred times but as I always tell him... It was my honor to be part of this great event. Thanks a ton to G.G. for giving me the opportunity of being a judge in this online Gunpla competition.

Actually Gundam Guy's thank yous and links to my humble free blog and our MAC forums is more than enough... BUT a free MG of your own choice is always a welcome addition to solidify the brotherhood! hahaha. Thanks in advance for the free Master Grade man!!!.

G-SHOT Best Diorama category winner - Nathaniel Barrera

The Best Diorama category was the most exciting category to judge, This cat was one of the cause of delay in the announcement of the winners. After the Final Round voting, we ended up with a virtual tie between Giovanni Hilario ( GMAC creator ) and Nathaniel Barrera, both from the Philippines.

Adam Sonar then had to create another POLL for us judges ( Derringer, Adam Sonar, DC23, Gundam Guy and Syd Sked ) to break the tie between the two participants. And after the TIE BREAKER POLL... All the four judges excluding one ( who was late in voting, hehe ) had BOTH dioramas at a TIE again. All four judges just could not agree on a winner, thus the last judge broke the tie to save all of us from setting up another poll.

Honestly as I've said at Gundam Australia Forums and Gundam Guy's site... Nathaniel Barrera has been this good for so many years now and has been a perennial podium finisher in BAKUC competitions here in the Philippines. However, I did not have this diorama as my top pick because of the quality of the presentation.

The topnotch masterful work on the diorama, the highly detailed kits and the details of the build is very compelling, realistic and is definitely a deserving winner. I just find the blurred first photo and the cutting board on the left background a letdown. I am not good in photography but submitting a photo of a well built diorama masterpiece, with a cutting board as a background for a PHOTO Gunpla competition loss my vote.

Anyways, here is the link to GG's for what the other judges had to say and photos of the other finalists. Congratulations also goes to Giovanni Hilario for tying as first runner up and the other finalists of this category... Here is the link guys...

G-SHOT winners coming up!

We have the 3 winners in the 3 categories already, we are still working on the winners of the Best in Photo category and Best in Diorama category. The final stages of the judging was really fun as we had to vote in a poll at a secret section in Gundam Australia Forums.

Voting in a poll proved a lot more exciting as you do not see what the other 4 judges casted. You can only see your votes and wait for the results. This is pretty exciting stuff for all of us and winners should be announced soon at Gundam Guy! Stay tuned guys! Results will be coming up very very soon!

G-SHOT - 2nd round elimination

I just finished casting my votes for the top entries of the 2nd round! My fellow judges Derringer and Gaijin Gunpla has also casted their votes in all five categories. Only Adam Sonar the creator of Gundam Australia Forums and Gundam Guy has not casted their votes, but for sure we will be announcing the winners by February 5 ( Saturday )!

We will then select the winners of each category from the top entries of round 1 and round 2. All 5 judges should agree on a winner from all the top entries from both rounds. This is a contest of both modeling and photography skills, thus the winner has the best kit with the best photo after all is said and done. Good luck again to all the participants!

It was an honor for me to have been a judge in this online " World Championships "! Lots of amazing, jaw dropping entries that made some of my builds look so amateur. We had the opportunity to judge almost 600 entries from almost 200 modelers from all over the world in the past few weeks. It was a daunting task to say the least but it was a very rewarding experience to have been part of this great event.

Saying that this contest was so inspiring is an understatement. Lots of little known new modelers with great potential and skills. Hope to see those guys a little bit more. Anyways, the winners should be announced at Gundam Guy very very soon, so stay tuned! :)

G-SHOT - winners very very soon!

I am not sure if I should spill the beans, but Gundam Guy has PMed us ( judges ) that the 2nd round of elimination starts today. As most of you know we already selected our top choices during the 1st elimination round, and we are to trim the number of choices again starting today.

We will then select the winners in all the 5 categories from the top choices from the 1st and 2nd round. A bit too much entries that we did not expect contributed to a week delay. We apologize for the delay and the final results and winners should be announced on February 5, 2011 ( to be confirmed by G.G. )!
Goodluck to all participants! Just enjoy the hobby guys! :)

G-SHOT - 1st round elimination

I just finished selecting my top entries in each category at GAF. A bit of a task as their are gazillion entries in 5 categories. The Straight Build category has so much entries and most categories have pretty competitive builds. The 1st round elimination was a daunting task, as we have to select our top entries to narrow down the selection after January 22 2011.

I think there could be 2 or 3 more elimination rounds before we could come up with the most deserving winner. This is the World Championships in Photos guys! So keep those entries coming as G-SHOT is getting bigger as the weeks go by! Here are the links again to G.G.'s Facebook page and some photos I randomly selected while judging earlier today...

G-SHOT logo studies

A blogger friend asked me earlier if I could create a logo for him that is similar to the Beargguy GB logo that I did. I Just finished this four studies after eating a hearty meal and hope my blogger friend likes at least one of them. If not, I could do another round of studies for him.

And this is the winning logo, well... at least one of these two...
