Digital Prints Are Looking Good!

Don Digital Prints Photo

I was supposed to meet my best friend from my old day job today, but I was carrying tons of plastic tubes ( for shipping the artworks and prints ), a huge roll of Watercolor paper ( for a couple of watercolor commissioned artworks ), tons of digital prints and a paper bag of food for my kids. So, me and my friend decided to call off our date ( insert emoji here ).

I am so stoked when I unwrapped the digital prints at home! All the photos here were taken on top of our dining table ( bad warm lighting ), and they look nicer in person! I don't know if it's just me, but seeing a ton of reproduction of my drawings, and the idea that I will be shipping this all over ( mostly US and one to France ) made me sooo happy today.

The prints are mostly 8 x10. But there are a handful of huge 12 x 15 and 12 x 18 prints too! The bigger prints, specially the POSTER ART I just did, look so darn good! I could just imagine the larger 16 x 24 and 20 x 30 prints! The larger prints take two days to process ( print ). Will be getting them by Friday.

I know it might sound HARD SELL, but I must say they really look so dang good! The colored artworks stand out so much, as the colors are so vibrant. The texture of the photo paper is matte ( but they have a shine in some angles ). Nevertheless, they are very good reproduction of my artworks. I am very glad I decided to have them printed at a KODAK Photo Printing shop, rather than in a normal home printer. It's not about saving cost, it's about sharing good quality prints after all.

I can't wait to see the huge 20 x 30s by Friday! I will then have to sign and number each print once all prints are here. I decided to make all the prints LIMITED. Giving them a bit more value in time ( specially when I die already - LMAO ). Artworks regardless of style, gain more value once the artist dies ( fact ). hehehe

Anyways, pardon for spamming all my social media accounts with photos of all these prints. I am just too happy seeing them on our dining table today! Thanks as always for dropping by! Until next post guys! CIAO!

Bile Tralls Cryx Unit verDC23

Bile Tralls Cryx Unit painted by Don Suratos aka DC23photo

I finished these beautiful tiny models a couple of weeks ago and as always I figured I'd archive the photos here in my old blog. Unlike my usual miniatures which are mostly commissioned works, these Bile Tralls are mine and belongs to my slowly growing Cryx army.

I am still learning how to hand paint these wonderful metal models from Privateer Press. I am enjoying every unit / model I finish as I learn how to effectively and efficiently paint them. I still struggle making the metallic areas look better, but I am starting to get comfortable in painting the skin and cloth parts. I hope I do a better job with the armor parts of my next batch of finished models.

Other than liking the look of these butt naked Bile Tralls, I love fielding them against my son! He hates them so much as they can potentially wipe out his Winterguard Infantry Death Star! My son is starting to learn how to counter these Bile Tralls and he is asking me to buy a Khador Assault Kommandos for his Khador army ( smart little dude ).

I prime, paint and varnish my models all with Vallejo acrylic paints. Strong vibrant paints that I love so much! :)

I also struggled painting dead skin tone ( pale ) as I feel I might make them look flat. I then gave my Bloat Trall a bit of Vallejo Game Ink Green and Purple washes to give it a deader look. I hope to paint more dead looking skin tones next time but I am happy as of now.

Bloat Trall Cryx Solo - Commissioned Work

Bloat Trall Cryx Solo verDC23photo

After finishing a few commissioned works, I decided I need to practice my miniature painting this weekend. Last weekend was a bit unproductive ( painting-wise ) as my 8 year old son is getting crazier and nerdier with the game of Warmachine / Hordes. We played like 5 times a day last weekend. I also got my son a Trollbloods faction book that he brings anywhere he goes. My son also decided to add more units to our Trollbloods army as he plan to play Khador and Trollbloods exclusively.

Anyways, This Bloat Trall is from my own slowly growing Cryx army. I do not normally paint my own army as I am content playing with primed armies for the meantime. I have tons of commissioned works to attend to but as I've said I felt I needed to practice my hand painting before moving back to my commissioned works.

This Bloat Trall was painted with Vallejo Game Airs and seal with Vallejo Polyurethan Varnishes. I had a hard time achieving the pale dead skin seen at the Privateer Press website, but had fun painting this model nevertheless.

I still need to add a bit more highlights to the minimum unit of Bile Tralls before I deem them done. I enjoy fielding them against my son last weekend though. :)

Below is a quick rust painting experiment that I painted for around 10 minutes. :b

Below are some of my Warmachine commissioned works I plan to work on this coming weekend. More painted models coming out of the next weekend as I plan to go berserk painting next week.

Thanks as always for dropping by! Until next post guys! Just enjoy the hobby! :)

Kraken - Warmachine Cryx Colossal verDC23

Kraken - Warmachine Crix Colossal verDC23photo

I just finished this last weekend. This model made me decide I like Cryx as my main Warmachine army ( Skorne as my main Hordes army ). I love the studio colors as seen at the Privateer Press website. However as I have been painting Gunpla for a few years now, I thought of going crazy with the color and match my other Cryx models.

As usual with my builds, this colossal was given a bit of weathering ( some patches of rust all over the purple armor ). I will also be painting a Cryx Deathjack that I plan to give a deeper ( darker ) purple. This model was painted with all Vallejo Game Airs. Very vibrant paints that are pretty airbrush friendly. Sealed the whole model with Vallejo Satin Polyurethane Varnish.

This Colossal would form my main Cryx list, although I already have 130 pts of Cryx models, I need to form a list that would work better with each other. I will try not to form a Bane Trall spam list ( although I might not be able to resist ).

I will be slowly painting my purple Cryx army, although I have a ton of commissioned works to attend to at the moment. Thanks as always for dropping by and stay tuned for tons of painted Warmachine / Hordes / Malifaux models soon! Just enjoy the hobby! :)
