my TOP10 tools for Gunpla

I have here another topnotch highly reliable TOP10 list of the most used Gunpla tools for any modeler. Kidding aside, here is my list for any new modelers who are just starting to buy tools for this hobby. When I was a beginner and I only had a couple of beginner friends back in 2008 ( not yet a member of any forum ), we kinda bought some unnecessary tools that I still do not use up to this day.

So I thought of creating this simple list for beginners so that they would only buy the tools needed for the job. I think that 1 to 4 is the basic tools that any modeler needs to start the hobby. And numbers 5 to 10 are the tools you need when you start to sort of level up and you want to fix seam lines and modify your kits already. Now here is my unbiased ( hehehe ) and highly dependable list of tools you need for Gunpla...

my TOP10 - BMKWC 2010 Malaysia entries

Let us have another unbiased and extremely credible ( yeah right ) TOP10 list! This is a list of the Bandai Model Kit World Cup Malaysia 2010 entries! This is just a fun feature of my fav entries and should not be taken seriously ( LOL ). I have no way to judge the quality of the entries but through photos alone. I do think we could easily make a TOP15 or TOP20 of all the good entries of the event though.

The list is arranged in no chronological order, I just randomly picked photos that is posted in ZeroGunz. The photos above are from a ZeroGunz member Wayne aka WAX. The Philippines and Australia has finished their BMKWCs, even North America is finished I think. BMKWC Malaysia is ongoing and Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Singapore should be mounted soon.

The biggest Gundam modeling event in the world is nearing... The Gunpla World Championships is near!!! So buckle up and enjoy the entries of our Malaysian friends and let's see who's competing in the finals come Sunday! XD
For the meantime here are my TOP10 BMKWC 2010 Malaysia entries...

my TOP10 most damaged parts of a Mecha

Damage effects are as subtle as paint chips and dry brushing or could be as worst as slashed melted armor, dents or even exposed internals. This list could be a nice simple guide for new modelers who wants to try battle damage effects and some weathering on their kit.

I will be putting some damage effects on the armor parts of my PG MKII commission build, and I suddenly thought of another TOP10 that could be helpful for new modelers. I for one could use this as a guide to remind myself not to over damage or over weather the whole kit.

The list is just the most logical ( for me ) parts that would acquire the most damage after and during a battle. Actually I only plan to put subtle damage effects on the PG MKII and some paint chips on the areas in this list.

Again, this list could serve as a nice guide for the most subtle weathering effects like dry brushing and paint chips. You could concentrate on these areas and gradually tone down the weathering on the areas / parts that are not listed here. If you plan a more battle worn mecha, just simply disregard this list and dip your kit in enamel paint. hihihi

my TOP10 steps on How to Build Gunpla

As always, I do not claim expertise in this hobby but I just want to share my steps on how I build my kits. I thought of this coz I get a few emails on inquiries on how to build Gunpla. Questions like, Do I prime my kit? Do I apply gloss coat before putting on decals or Is top coat necessary after the panel line wash?

I do not mind answering those inquiries, though it gets boring typing the same answers for every email. So I thought of creating this basic guide on how I do my Gunpla ( ootb ). Now whenever I get the same inquiries / questions, I could simply direct them to this list. Nifty move ey? hihi... Now let's start building!

my TOP10 hguc kits

All photos courtesy of dalong.net

Here is another fun TOP10 list! I do not claim expertise on these kits though, as I rarely build  and paint these small kits. I do collect them and have a handful and have more than half of the kits in this list though. This was a very difficult list to do as there are so many beautiful HGUC kits out there and BANDAI keeps on churning out more every month!

HGUC ( High Grade Universal Century ) 1/144 kits are small model kits exclusively based on the Universal Century timeline. Other 1/144 High Grade kits from the other series like Gundam Wing EW, Gundam Seed and Gundam 00 is not part of the HGUC line.

The selection on the list is purely based on my biased opinion and should not be taken seriously. Some of the kits on this list is based on the ease of construction, gimmicks of the kit, proportions of the kit, and sometimes the sheer size and look of the kit. Now I present to you my TOP10 1/144 hguc kits...

my TOP10 Master Grade kits

Let us have another TOP10 list. I thought of putting up the most obvious TOP10 any Gunpla modeler, collector or enthusiast could think of or blog about. My choices for my TOP10 Bandai Master Grade kits are purely based on my biased opinion and should not be taken seriously. hihi

This list is based on the articulation of the kit, gimmicks of the kit ( e.g. transformations ), price of the kit relative to its value and sometimes just the sheer size and look of the kit.
All the photos and links are from gunpla-inochi.com

Now let me present to you my TOP10 BANDAI Master Grade kits...

my TOP10 - BMKWC 2010 Philippine entries

I thought of creating this new type of post after reading a really nice thread at our MAC forums on " What is your TOP10 favourite Gundam / MS? ". This is basically my TOP10 picks amongst all of the entries at the recently concluded BMKWC Philippines 2010.

As I've said before I like all of the entries at the event and that their is simply just not enough placings or prizes to go along. I could easily have a TOP30 or even a TOP50 in this year's entries as all are topnotch works.

I chose my TOP10 in the most biased way I could do and these are just friends that is why I am featuring them here... JOKE! I based my selection on the level of effort put into the build, skill level to accomplish such great builds and the creativity in putting up such a masterpiece.

Now here is my TOP10 in NO chronological order whatsoever...
