Stormtrooper and Sandtrooper with Dewback Mega Vinyl toys crafted by Acube Art Studios

Used MEGA vinyl toy as base for the Sand trooper. Dewback was sculpted from scratch using ball clay.  Dio was inspired by Episode 4: A New Hope scene where Sandtroopers were hunting for the droids C3PO and R2D2 in Tatooine.

CRAP by Rotobox Vinyl Anatomica

CRAP by Rotobox Vinyl Anatomica photo

In my vain attempt to stir away from the usual blog layouts, I have edited my html / template for the nth time. I had to change the layout to better feature recent posts and show more posts per page as much as possible. Obviously this new layout is reminiscent of our MAC forums front page, which unfortunately I could no longer update.

I also have here today a very cool custom vinyl figure by Rotobox Vinyl Anatomica. I present to you the Compact Retaliation Armored Pod or C.R.A.P.! I wonder how big the figure is, but this sure would look awesome in any mecha display cabinet. C.R.A.P. even has a cool little pilot that fits perfectly inside the pod.

Once I finish all my Gunplas duties ( commission works ) and other stuffs. I will surely try to squeeze in another custom vinyl in my gallery. This piece is very inspirational, great stuff as always from Rotobox Vinyl Anatomica! More photos of C.R.A.P. in the link below...

3.5 inch custom Angel Baby QEE ver DC23

custom Angel babyQEE by DC23 Photo

I have here a very quick and fun project I did for a few hours last night. I got this 3.5 inch DIY baby QEE yesterday and thought of just doing a quick work on it. After sanding the whole vinyl toy with a high grit sandpaper, I then drew some patterns all over the body of this little guy using some Sharpie pens. I then painted some paint squirts on the nozzle of the spray can head and sealed everything with some matte Vallejo varnish using my airbrush.

I brushed some pigments all over the kit to somehow show that the concept is an OLD left over spray can that is a bit dirty already. Anyways, this project was really fun and should grab a few more of this little baby QEE vinyl toys soon.

Now here are a few photos of the spray head...

MORE custom vinyl toys ver DC23 soon!!!

more custom vinyls soon photo

As I've said in my post here, I will be working on a small 5 inch DIY mini QEE Toyerq soon. So I bought the vinyl today and I also got myself a small baby QEE spray can head figure. The same client of my 8 inch DIY custom robot QEE that I finished a while back, wants the ToyerQ ( skull head ) in a mecha - ninja concept of some sort.

I am still conceptualizing on how to tackle both these quick fun projects. The spray can head 3.5 inch baby QEE is I think the perfect MASCOT for my blog. It will soon be my Facebook avatar, twitter avatar, forums avatar and everything about DC23 if I pull it off well. Anyways, excited to work on these projects soon, now here are a few photos of my vinyl toy hauls today...

Happy client = another toy vinyl project! WOot!

mini QEEPhoto

I am currently exchanging emails with the client of my 8 inch custom robot QEE. However due to the timezone, the wait for each reply is killing me ( with excitement of course ). My client was pretty happy with the outcome and now wants another one!

I will be working on a Skull head 5 inch Mini QEE ToyerQ this time. Yeap it is a bit smaller and plus a couple of vinyl toy experience under my belt... This project should be as fun or even more fun than the previous vinyl toy attempts.

My first attempt on custom vinyl toy was my " belat boy " which was the same size ( 5 inch ) as my up and coming commission. Vinyls unlike plastic are sort of rubbery and are impossible to scribe, Although using Tamiya epoxy putty works like a charm.

Anyways, just excited to share another quick exciting non-Gunpla project that I will working on soon!

Thanks as always for dropping by guys! Til' next post! :)

8 inch custom robot DIY QEE ver DC23

custom robot vinyl toy

I almost finished this a few days back before being confined in the hospital. Just got back today, managed to add silver paint chipping effects around the cockpit lid and a few areas and brushed some Vallejo pigments on some corners and crevices. It is I think pretty much complete now.

Honestly I was not really sure on the direction of the build at first, I was just hoping that my weathering and painting skills would save me at the end. I hope it did. LOL. I airbrushed this with Vallejo grey primer, airbrushed with Vallejo yellow and then weathered with more Vallejo paints, pigments and washes.

As I was afraid to ruin the vinyl surface underneath, All Vallejos were thinned with water only even during airbrushing. This is now sealed with Vallejo satin finish and not my usual future. Hope my client from the US likes it, even though this is my first commission work on an 8 inch vinyl toy. ANyways, enuff talk and here are some pics...
