I managed to paint the diorama with spray cans yesterday. The only boo boo is that the base ( yellow plastic ) cannot be painted. I mean the paint won't adhere ( even the primer ) to the very glossy surface of the plastic. I will rough sand it soon and try to paint it flat black again.
After masking the trees and the snowy cliff, I sprayed the rest of the dio Bosny dark grey and the back of the mountain in flat black. I then applied more snow ( Talcum + future ) around some areas of the dio to blend it with the mountain.
Notice that most of the snow on the dio fell from the cliff and a tractor is kinda cleaning it up. I also applied some white panel lines and white dry brushing all over the place to give the whole hangar a more snowy look to it.
The rest of the photos was taken indoors in my work bench thus there is too much contrast. I will take better photos soon once I have added some posters, warning signs and maybe some hangar markings. Anyways, here are some photos of the almost complete snow hangar diorama...
Thanks for dropping by! Til' next post! :D
looks great so far :D
ReplyDeleteOne thing IMO the base need a helluva lot more cables/wires taht will be attached to MS...
simply awesome sir
ReplyDeleteExcellent work with the loader clearing the snow. That's the kind of realism I look for and I was hoping to see a big hunk of fallen snow below the edge of that cliff. Love to see some ice build up on some of the pipes and maybe a couple of empty oil cans or an old ammo crate tucked away in one of those corners. Great looking dio Don. Really excellent work.
ReplyDeleteDon, That looks very realistic so far. I hope the snow that you have around the edge's is on purpose,
ReplyDeletebecause thats how it should look. Also dont forget foot prints and other track type marks should be
present near trafficed ares's. My only advise is turn the snow into two piles left/right of the entrance
where the tractor is.
P.s. that yellow plastis is a pain to paint and if you sand it to a roughness the paint should stick.
One other question bro. Are you gonna do a semi rust type wash and weathering? and if so you may
ReplyDeletewant to do that before making that snow permanant.
Thanks man! ok will try to add more wires. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks bro! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inputs bro! I have a few small 1/87 scale crates I think... will add them soon. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips bro... will add foot prints and track marks soon. Yeap the yellow plastic is so smooth. :)
ReplyDeleteThe snow is as hard as plastic by now bro... and the crevices is taken over by the white / snow wash already. I might paint a few rust chippings though. :)
ReplyDeleteThis will be a totally wicked snow dio. and that tractor clearing out the snow's a nice touch. Tomica yan?
ReplyDeleteAs for piping, at least one should be connected with the Saz, para bang feeding off base power muna before launch. A couple attached to the booster would do too.
Thanks Jonas! yeap... those wires are connected to the foot / lower leg of the Saz. Thanks. :)
ReplyDeleteDon't want to seem nagging, But with that much clearness on the landing pad and walks you should have some snow pile's.The piles would be dirty from the grease and dirt on the landing pad.
ReplyDeleteThis is only for realism sake, hope ya don't mind too much bro.
Wow! Long time didn't visit your blog, congrats on the growing, bro. Good job! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks once again Kriz, I will do all your suggestions and tips! They are good stuffs... I will do it right after getting home tonight. Thanks! :)
